If you run linux it is easy to fsck. What I meant was if the circumstances warrent, what is wrong with using automotive 'black box data'!

Maybe I should just force it and forget PNP, I know what the settings are so just shutup and do what I tell you to do and use the emulate scsi-ide setting @$#&^#$&
I just wish there was better documentation about their speed settings so they will work at speeds above 4X for CDR only with Linux. CDRW is a slow 4X max on any platform, so that is not a problem.
The module config file in Slack is easy enough to hack but if you do not know the parameters it makes hacking X86config look like childs play. That is why getting the documentation from LG would be great. One thing though, it sure is reliable at slow speed burn. I guess it is a great device, I have reconfigd' it to the nines and it still works, though sometimes I notice it gets the disks alittle too hot even while just reading them.

Bull frogs. Software does not fry HD Drives. The fact that RTFM is not understood is the problem. It is quite easy to use CFDISK and fix things then reinstall Windows... IF you have any real DOS experience at all. The help is all there and gets you contenx specific help unlike MS styled goof ball fdisk documentation. Just because you don't use a mouse to select things does not mean that is not easy if you RTFM. Of course if you do not own the copy of Windows you just fried then you are out of luck, no one pirates Windows anymore! And the there is no more software piracy between Windows users. To remove all competitors and hardware platform competition.
To invest in technologies that can become a monoply, and only make heavy investments in tech that they can completely control.
Legally steal software tech with coding virgins if they cannot Legally own it.
Protect their code base so that it cannot be cloned by altering the coding languages and making them proprietary.
They are completely within their rights in doing these things. It is the consumer and communication industry that needs to fight this monolyth not the courts. They harm the industry with their software patents and security policies, and the sooner the consumer realises this the better.
Applying MS patchs to Wine is like swallowing the spider. what the hell for. You cannot screw up root with wine so why worry, if your home dir gets screwed, save the good files and off it. rpm-e wine... and the windows fake Cdrive then reinstall it. The beauty is there are scripts to do Linux backups of your wine install so there is no problem running multiple sessions of wine with different fake C drives, in different users home dirs. Try that with Windows software!

I am considering a desk mod. The idea is to cable and setup my computer desk as a computer itself. Kind of like Crammers Coffee Table Book Coffee Table. Make the MB easy to clean and integrate the electrics. I think I won't monkey with the chair though. Make upgrades practical and I might have something. Multiboot optimised and an Apple board to boot.
