My thought was a baby with three cyclops heads and a spawn from "Aliens" bursting out of his chest - I think that horrible mutations and parasitic insectoid monsters both have primal appeal to our sense of horror.
Fuck if we can put information on satelites that aliens are supposed to understand what makes you think we can't do the same thing for future
Oh yeah, we can put info that people in the future are supposed to understand, just like aliens. There is no evidence that it's better than any other information, though.
Ownership of something
IS liberty. Tax commerce instead.
How is commerce (trade) a less of a liberty? If you can't trade - i.e., agree to give up your property and acquire other property - what the hell do property rights mean then?
Even if you agree with the philosophy of this, the problem is that nobody can really say what the good of many is, often times. Sure, amend that to "wishes of many", but even that has a lot of grey areas.
I don't see many subways powered by: psychic energy, aliens, prayers, planetary influences..
First of all, books/TV/radio and other content devoted to all of the above is not a small market. At least all of this contributes to the economy:)
Also, "prayers", etc., may have some sort of a psychological effect on the supplicant, that's undeniable. Perhaps they help people function that otherwise wouldn't be able to.
You see, when they can take away your right to defend yourself, you will not be able to defend yourself against ANY brute whether it be state sponsored
How many members of NRA will be able to withstand a well-trained special ops team with helicopters and tanks and all the wonders of the cutting edge technology? Please...
Either that, or those with limited vocabulary do not even know what an oligarchy is.
Or those with limited vocabulary are missing
a word such as "oligopoly".
Oligarchy effectively describes current US
political system anyway, though.
Where in the constitution can you assume that or justify that the above is inaliable or even a civil/moral right ?
Where in the constitution can you assume that
Federal Government has a right to create a thing
such as FCC?
Ah, yes, the famous "general welfare" clause,
is that it? Please...
When things get handed to a corporation you can only vote if your wallet is big enough.

So what's he gonna do when people

A great argument!
Same reason that a 13yr old boy can't walk into a beer store and by Playboy
What's the reason, pray tell? A fear of
a body and sexuality cultivated by
the dominant religions.
Our children are too precious to sacrifice them at the altar of free speech.
Marks: Rhetoric: 10. Substance: 0.
Why? Because you say so?
Ouch... This is much scarier than just
what you mentioned!
It's so broad, there is no limitation
of government's powers to arrest...
The police are already entitled to break up a meeting of more than three people on a whim (Prevention of Terrorism Act 2000).
More info on that???

What if our descendants actually look like that?
Yes, most people get to this realization :)

10 LET M$ = "Microsoft"
See, kids, it's much easier than Hello world.
And no need to compile either.
I look at it this way: art has to reach its audience.
So now, if the intended audience of a piece
is only those who would consider it art (
not everybody!), it has succeeded by definition!
Everything does double every 18 months, you know.
Stock prices especially...

You can't trust the account of someone whose only means of cognition is a set of dead or dying neurons.
You can't even tell what your means of cognition
are without using them. What if they are fooling
you? How are you better?
I thought GPL required you to make the
source code available, but not necessarily
include it in every packaging of the
software.
