He tried to taste the meat and got kicked off the helicopter. Recent media reports seem to indicate that he's stumbling his way around the desert trying to find anyone willing to give him a ride to the nearest gala banquet.
You know, can we save the tinfoil hat shit for important conspiracies, please? High-profile assassinations, mysterious alien landings, strange court decisions... you know, that type of thing.
Was what he did wrong and illegal? Yes. Was the law clearly on Apple's side? Yes. Could it have been worse for the offendor? Yes. Was the offendor coerced into making a public apology and serving as a scary example to others? You bet he was.
Sweet! Can I make some random speculations based on absolutely no evidence, too? I heard that if I make enough of them, they might get put into a "story" or some such thing!
"IE is part of the Windows Operating System so that parts of the OS and other applications can rely on the functionality and APIs being present."
So why not just have an html rendering library and make IE an optional add-on? Plenty of other OS's seem to get by with this approach; I guess that none of them are so hellbent on pushing out a particular product...
Yes. People often refer to illicit drugs as simply "drugs".
Sorry, that's not going to cut it. A drug's a drug, simple as that. So, define "significantly", then... I don't think that THC counts as significant; under the influence, I'm still the same person and I'm still rational. I think that users of Prozac, Ritalin, and other OTC's would say the same thing.
However, I'd agree in that a substance like MDMA can significantly alter the user's behavior @ >150Mg. At about 50Mg... maybe significant? At 25Mg, it'd be enough to be noticed, but not enough to alter the user's behavior.
Now, I'm not promoting this drug in this example; I'm simplying saying that your terms are completely arbitrary, as are the laws that apply to these drugs. This is a rather dangerous slippery slope, and the end result is that your classifications are based more on personal prejudice than chemistry. The world isn't quite so black-and-white.
And, no, I don't drink. And, yes, I am implying alcoholic beverages (before you go on about the fact that I do drink various liquids).
I'd actually like to hear a good answer to the parent post. I'm against all drug use, including marijuana, but I can never seem to come up with a decent logical discourse to support my position against marijuana use.
Perhaps that's because your boundaries are too narrow?
Oh yeah, that's because you meant "all illicit (according to US law)" drug use, not "all" drug use. I've never taken advil in my life... have you? WHOOPS, you used a drug!
Drugs are just like technology in the sense that on their own, they possess no ethos or morality. It's how they are used/abused that determines this. Look at how many people in the general US population are now hooked on seratonin-regulating drugs for "depression"... and yet, MDMA is still illegal. What a joke.
So yeah, if you're going to be "against all drug use" with big black X's on your hands, then I'd suggest shacking up with the Amish. In the meantime, reality isn't going to be marked by a big line in the sand as to what's "good" and "bad", so I'd suggest actually sitting on the other side of the fence before making such uninformed blanket statements.
I have an iPod, but when I got it I just used it under linux. To be honest, it worked great, and I could care less for iTunes or any of that crap. I "switched" much later on after being lent a 300Mhz powerbook by a friend... even though it was slow, I could do everything I needed in OSX that my craptacular 650Mhz acer laptop could do, and I got 4 hours of battery life.
OSX was the workhorse that sold me on Apple... the iPod's just a toy for long car trips and lugging data files around.
We should be attracting aliens by producing a stable intergalactic fleet of killer robot ships. They will want to trade with us if we have heavy firepower. It's a status thing, really.
Please please please please, PLEASE keep this idea away from any advisors to president Bush. NASA's budget is already strained, and I fear that this idea implanted in his head would take things down a turn for the worst...
Right now the human race seems to think that whatever they say is worth listening too, much like stories posted by people on slashdot, in their webblogs, or this very comment. But sufficiently advanced minds aren't always interested in these things.
Couldn't agree with you more. Even this cocky grandmaster thinks that aliens might somehow give a fuck about the number 10609, or predictably, learning chess. I think that if intelligent life knew we were capable of talking with them, we'd know it by now.
I would like to take this opportunity to pre-emptively mock the first slashdotter that will inevitably reply to your post with the exact quotes (including corrections for your paraphrasing) as well as the Simpson's episode number to which you are referring.
But now I can get help booking my cruises at the last minute!
It's not "stealing"... I'm sure the guy was eventually planning on returning the books, right?

Yeah, no kidding. I was half expecting to see the tape cut over to paris hilton in a hotel bedroom...
...but I'm sure we will soon. Everyone should check out this rad 7min video of this thing in action. Very cool. =)
I think the parent is looking to update to the CURRENT latest version, not last year's latest version...
Yeah, it's a shame that...
BUFFERING: 8%, 86%, 98%
thatttttt Adobe really had to stoop to thes...
BUFFERING: 12%, 36%, 76%, 95%
eeee kind of business practices. They should really know bett...
BUFFERING: 36%, 45%, 45%, 45%... Connection to host lost. Would you like to upgrade to RealPlayer Gold(TM)?
If they can catch the dupes, mispellings, and other obvious errors, I'm all for outsourcing slashdot.

It's also the best online scrabble game I've seen; Hasbro should pay Jared, not sue him.
If you can't innovate, litigate.
I said the same thing about my ex before she gave me herpes. =(
Why don't you switch and find out?
C'mon, you know you want to do it....
All of your friends are doing it. A few of your co-workers did it. I even heard your wife/mom/sister's roommate is thinking about it.
Switttttch.... Swiiiiittttchhh!

Actually, this is the new approach to preventing the slashdot effect...
I have a Ph.d, bitch. It's a Pimpin' Ho's Degree, so let me tell YOU about some black ho's!
I'd tap it.

The same could be said about SMTP and Spam. Don't always throw out the baby with the bathwater.
Didn't you get the memo.. they're now called "freedom 0-days".
