WinXP is nothing but a big pain in the ass. I just got a new workstation with XP on it, and it is terrible. It does not play nice with our existing windows network, it offers nothing spectacular over 2K. I truly believe that they know all this at MS, but they must generate revenue. Shut up and consume should be their mantra, not where do you want to go today.
"Without those apps, OS X-x86-Lite would likely suffer the same fate as those who "tried" RedHat only to reinstall their orginal Windows because it wouldn't do anything for them."
I am not joe-sixpack and would like to use Linux, but I just don't have the time to relearn everything. How hard does it need to be to enter a default gateway for example?
The rant is very valid, regardless of where it goes. Just because it is valid for x stories on a given day does not mean I am off topic.
The rant also points to the shame that is slashdot, that is the merciless crushing of a server. It serves no point other then to get a few posters some karma for making a joke.
How in the hell was I offtopic???? I was talking about the house/software article. I guess that the person who modd'ed my first post didn't get a chance to RTFA either.
Here I sit with 5 freshly minted moderator points and was all ready to moderate on this story. But as with every story except for the ones from Roland Pique (whatever his name is) the thing was unreachable. No offense, but what the hell is the point Slashdot. Maybe 5 people get to read the article, everyone else either goes off-topic or makes jokes about how they didn't RTFA. By deduction then, moderation must therefore be a joke also. They only true moderation points would be awarded to the person who posts a mirror, or pastes the article. My moderation points will now be fruitlessly given away to the posters, who like me did not get to RTFA. It is just cyclical and pointless. Now I have to get back to work before someone busts me for reading Slashdot.
Thank you for not reading the article, but that would be bad form for here. The can maintain the same speed, regardless of print size. All that is needed is to attach a second print head to print an A4 at rated speeds.
Although I agree with everything that you said regarding LCD's, I must point out the one negative that you missed. When comparing a good flat panel (you indicated a Dell 2005FPW) to a high-end CRT, what you fail to mention is upper end of resolution display and the ability for the CRT to look good through out the entire range of resolution that it can display. The LCD falls painfully short here.
"Google: Now you can search locations using satellite maps. Nifty, eh? MS: Google is so 2004. MSN Virtual Search allows you to spy on your neighbor's hot wife."
Umm, bad comparision. If MS did that who would really use google maps anymore.
Come on, you must be trolling??? The consoles have HD signals. Most TV's only have 2 HD inputs. 1 for the HD TV signal, 1 for your console. if you have 2 consoles then what? AB switch?
Then what about all the money spent on the original Xbox games? the games still kick ass, and they get played alot.
I dont' know what is funnier, your analogy or the fact you felt it was so important a point that you made it bold. Like they say in the cartoons; settle down Beavis.
get over it. Google started in the US and offers services to the US. That is where they feel their market is. Either start your own company, move or bitch about it. Bitching won't solve your problem though.
What my original reply had to do with my state of elation is beyond me. As far as slashdot goes, you are wrong there also (I see a trend developing with your assertions). For the most part slashdot posters, at the +3 level, are thoughtful in their posts and opinions. So no, it is not all 'a huge pile of igorant nitpicking retards'. Only a few seem to get through.
you are one of the reasons people see linux as a fringe OS managed by psychos. The guy is trying to make a fair comparision between the two OS's. He is not coming across as a MS shill or a moron as you so elegantly put it. It seems as if right now based on his informal findings that your first statement regarding TCO is false. So if that is false then what about you second statement? Just because you don't like his answer to the TCO question doesn't make him the moron. Think about this: Who would you trust more in business? A retired head of the World Bank with facts and figures, or a Linux zealot who relies on name calling.
ahh, but that is where you are wrong my friend. In the heavily German/Dutch population of central Pennsylvania that sign is quite legit. They use the word 'you' so poorly that it now takes on a plural tense to mean a bunch of you, ie... yous. Used in a sentence such as when are yous going to come over and see our new house. so taking that into account, the sign "Thank's" must mean "Thanks to all the yous that have visited/shopped/etc..
Believe me it can, just do a defualt install of exchange and let your open rely be owned. It only takes a couple of days and soon you too will be sending email at a rate greater then 43 per second.

Are you new here?
"Without that much information, am I supposed to just believe the charges?"
This is Slashdot, you're not even supposed to read the article before commenting.
15. ???
16. Profit
Sorry, couldn't help it.

Please mod up parent as funny, this is obviously sarcastic humor.
"I would appreciate more accurate reporting on the part of the Slashdot editors to ensure that submitters are not spreading misinformation"
He then goes on to say about clicking a link, he must be hinting at reading something. My sides are splitting, please stop...

google in this case is a verb, please post again when finished with 9th grade English.
The half of us who are still living would. Sheesh, for some people, it is all about me, me, me.
Perhaps the ability to find any, let alone, obscure information without the internet is actually a skill. Some may call it resourcefullness.

Seems contradictive: repressive society and open access points.
