"Once Nova is launched Steve and his team will develop a three-seater craft in a bid to win the $10millionprize, which is being offered to the first non-governmental organisation to launch a pilot and two passengers into space twice."
Hot damn!! Anyone have a link to the organization that is offering this prize?
This guys a quack. I cant believe I wasted my time reading this. These HCI guys really get to me when they start overanalyzing like this. Face it, there is little to no "mental juggling" involved with using a back button. Think of it spatially as a stack of papers in which you can only see the top. The reduction of desktop clutter is far worth this sacrifice.
You can tell this is the type of guy that really loves to hear his own voice.
I was once given an old computer from a local hospital that contained all of the towns medical records. I was able to see which of my friends had stds and other sensative information. This sort of thing should be more carefully disposed of.
I had ordered a loaded g4 powerbook about two weeks ago...I was beginning to get upset it was taking so long to ship. Now my order says it is "being reviewed." Does apple have any plans to update the 15 incher for those of us that prefer neither a 12 or a 17 inch screen? I would love to have the backlit keys, bluetooth, airport extreme, faster hd, and nvidea card that comes with the new one...
The good thing about the yucca mountain site is that is incredibly high above the water table (somewhere on the order of 2 miles). However, we must consider the proximity to Los Vegas. Should something go wrong, this could be disastrous placement. Another negative is that there is a fault line running very close to the mountain. The fault has not moved in a significant amount of time, but this is still a risk to consider.
Personally, I believe the Sun is the best place to send or nuclear waste. This would have tiny impact on this extremely large fission machine. The downside of this is that if we ever found a method to recycle the energy, we would never be able to get it back. It is also extremely risky, launching a rocket with all of our nuclear waste out of a populated area...remember the challenger.
It seems to me that the Sega Dreamcast and the Microsoft xBox were such similar systems that this seems to be a fitting destiny for sony. Of course the will still be making games (Sonic the hedgehog for ps2), so it seems the essence of the dreamcast, which was a fantastic system, lives on. The Microsoft giant gains more steam as it seems certain to cripple Son'y current domination of the market.
anyone have any insight as to whether the new qt will be any faster? kde could be really slick if its internal window manager could raun even half the speed of windowmaker...
i like the method that my cell phone (samsung 8500) uses where it attempts to guess what word you are typing but things seriously need to improve if things like wireless web and mail services are going to be taken seriously on the cell phone market. I bought something on amazon once on my cell phone, maybe it was the novelty, but i will never do it again until a better system is developed. perhaps this is it
I remember reading about devices such as cameras and mp3 players in the Fopy PDA by Gmate and now having seen this article, I wonder what extremes are actually usuably in a cell phone. I have seen those combo cell pdas, and they seem a bit large for my taste. Wireless web as is on cell phones, is pretty useless (I cancelled mine).
At the same time there is that private eye/spy aspet to be able to take a quick snapshot with your phone. It would also be great for that kodak moment when you forgot your camera.
I live in a college dorm and dont have room to bring a full stereo down. It is most convenient for me just to use my computer. if this becomes a major trend...I'm going to be in trouble. I think the best thing people like us can do is to boycott cds like this and show the record companies that we wont stand for this dicrimination of how we listen to our music...
not like i would ever buy an 'nsync cd anyway right?
All these errors so often found in IE make me wonder if other browsers got such rigorous use, what might turn up? And if opera ad a major security hole, would it even be slashsot worthy? or is this simply because we are dealing with the supreme evil, Microsoft itself?
I'm not sure I really understand what direction this means the comany is going. what type of devices will they develop in the future? and does this mean they are abandoning ship on the crusoe?
I think more effort should be made to have more of tese documents available in multiple languages. Many of the documents, such as the Patent FAQ, are only available in english. If this is really an international consortium then it should be treated like one. I'm sure there are plenty of willing translators out there. Or maybe they could at least run it through Babblefish for the time being.
what great news to wake up to! I've been waiting so long it seems...cant wait to see it.
3d games are perfoming markedly better on my system...has anyone else noticed this?
Don't be silly... I'm sure the BBC is used to crazy triaffic
Critics are already calling it the "bye, bye, Bennett mission".
I wish him all the luck in the world

I see this as a good thing...the kinks will work themselves out later

I think I did pretty well on my diff eq test, but why would you care?
This seemes to be coming along nicely, I like the patent policy
