I'm really surprised that there isn't at least an experimental ipv6.slashdot.org site, at this point. Even ipv6.aol.com has been around for at least a year. It's almost embarrassing!
from what I've heard of the 2.5.x series, it's not worth testing yet. Anyone know when 2.4.18 is going to drop? Judging by the last 2.4.x buggy releases, there's no way I'll use test kernels any time soon...
I think SGI was better off when they only made IRIX/MIPS-based systems. I don't know why they started to make WINTEL systems anyway...seems like such a waste...
looks nice, but too many toys. I just stick with plain old vi anyway. I don't know why I would want to edit files over FTP, if I needed to edit something remotely, FTP would probably be the last protocol I would want to use...
Come to think of it...I'm not sure if I actually use a file manager in Linux. Easier for me to do everything through the shell. Never tried Nautilus though, maybe I should?
they said it was a 450mhz? Sadly, perhaps more of the population than we think are obsessed with having the highest *number of mhz* rather than a computer that performs in real-life tasks (compiling a kernel?).
I guess it's those same people who have the dual PIII-500's and brag about their 1ghz system...
I don't get it lately with processors. Why do we need all of this SSE, SSE-2, 3dnow, mmx stuff? Granted, I don't have a degree in computer engineering (yet.) but doesn't it seem that processors are becoming more and more proprietory?
To me, it seems like we're moving toward a time where there will be different versions of o/s's for each processor. (myos for intel / myos for amd) It's going to be increasingly hard for vendors to be able to write code that will be optimized for all processors.
I know at some parts of the ocean there are little to no currents. If these artifacts are in one of these places, that might explain it.
Or...they could have been just "lucky" not to be affected by the environment...heh

does this remind anyone of Divx (the original one)?

512mb isn't enough...
2.4.1 -> 2.4.5 sucked (8139too broken)
2.4.10 -> 2.4.13 sucked (vm sucked)
eh, I guess it wasn't that good. I liked 2.4.9 and I am liking 2.4.16. I hope 2.6.x or whatever it's going to be called is going to be better...
yea, but wasn't the whole premise of the show leading up to the millennium? and this, of course, has already past...
it's just a preview of some new special-effects that SGI is showing off...
shouldn't it be posted in another area? come on

Fast mirror here thanks to my OC-3 EDU connection...

Lots of data...too expensive for now. Wait a year or two...
Btw, what's liviving?
sorensonmedia's site is either slashdotted or down for maintenence? mirrors anybody?
same for me in central NJ. and I was running apache... :-(
2 weeks until back to school...I'll tunnel a port or something when I get there...

What's this, another user actually has problems with the 8139too module? I thought I was the only one...off to download 2.4.6!
I still think RFC1149 is a better, and cheaper alternative! ;-)

Anyone else think this way? does this make sense?
