they should have given that response to the NSA instead of saving it for Congress. Congress has unmarked planes and secret prisons in unpronounceable countries now?
you're entitled to your opinion, but not your own facts. The fact is that there is a court ruling that states that Google can use trademarks as adSense triggers but not in the advertisement's text. So your "liberal media" conspiracy is nothing more than paranoia.
Their position is the only one that will increase shareholder value. I sincerely wish I had not exempted myself from the slashdot mod points system when I read posts like this. It is about as insightful as they come. Thank you. This stood out to me as the reverse of an older adSense lawsuit, and it turns out (I googled it, hehe : ) that the ruling in that previous case gives the exact rationale behind that move on Google's part.
There are many examples of using another's trademark in an ad that do not amount to trademark infringement. The nominative use exception allows use of another's trademark to refer to the trademark owner's product or the trademark owner itself Google was sued over trademarks used as adSense triggers: "Defendant's internal use of plaintiff's trademark trigger sponsored links is not a use of a trademark...because there is no allegation that defendant places plaintiff's trademarks on any goods, containers, displays, or advertisements, or that its internal use is visible to the public."
Therefore, Google's policy is When we receive a complaint from a trademark owner, we only investigate the use of the trademark in ad text. If the advertiser is using the trademark in ad text, we will require the advertiser to remove the trademark and prevent them from using it in ad text in the future. Please note that we will not disable keywords in response to a trademark complaint.
Their position is the only one that will increase shareholder value.
Showing the actions of Moveon in order to criticize them is fair use. But capitalizing on the trademark for campaign publicity isn't.
If you look at the fringe sites they allow onto google news, its matches their political views. No right wing nuts, plenty of left wing nuts. That's a lie! This simple news search result's second source is "freemarketnews.com", and last time I checked free market was not a lefty wingnut idea http://news.google.com/news?&q=ron+paul
So you are telling me that they are acused of being the THIRD must used engine? Jesus fucking christ... Of course not, that isn't even remotely close to what anyone has said. Jesus fucking christ.
India and Pakistan where colonies just as long as any place in Africa. India was an empire as old as recorded history before it fell under the rule of the british empire and the most advanced civilization around for a good long while.
I am not continuing a conversation with a being that ignores that. Go learn about the world around you instead of trolling slashdot, it'll do you good.
Nah... best commentary track ever is on Fight Club.
With Pitt, Carter, and Norton mocking Fincher for everything being dark... and Norton talking about the narrator meeting Tyler for the first time being his favorite scene in the book... even though it was a completely different meeting then the book, so you get Pitt asking Norton if he had even read the book...
Also good, but I usually don't find the actor's commentary as interesting as the behind-the-scenes people. The actors always end up arguing about the order in which scenes were filmed and chatting about the food on set or something.
Funny how the powers than be concentrate on the infamious "MS monopoly (whatever that is) and close their eyes on the more serious Google issue. On April 3, 2000, a judgment was handed down in the case of United States v. Microsoft, calling the company an "abusive monopoly". Microsoft's position in the OS market is so strong that it manages to be the third most used search engine on the internet, even though its product is vastly inferior to other competitors, since it defaults to searching on that site from many different places in their OS.
As opposed to Google, where I have a nifty search box in my browser that's set to it by default, and comes already loaded with an alternative option should I choose not to use the best engine out there, or to see if I can find elsewhere what Google fails to mention, or if Google is down for some strange reason, or etc.
Basically, a ad had a trademark on it, and the trademark owner asked for the ad to be removed? Not really big news... Unless you spin it into free publicity for your candidate, that is.
"That damn liberal media, they're trying to silence a candidate! Lets vote for her out of spite!"
How long have we had foes/freaks here? Long enough for me to find out that the list tops off at 200 relationships. That sure is not a feature Facebook stole!
How pathetic. "Hey, these guys are succesful and these people are having fun! Let's spoil it!" Trolls: They've upped the ante from posting trolls to making troll applications:-|
Betcha they'll start a "first to tag the person with an enemy" race instead of first posts.
Don't add people that you aren't/weren't actually friends with, and ignore requests from people who are just trying to increase their friends count I call them friend whores.
But I have a little more than just actual "friends" as friends, I also have a few friendly acquaintances, and I also accept friend requests from DJs of places where I hang out, even if I don't actually like them, because I want them to think good thoughts about me should I ever wish to request a song. Also, cuteness is a factor for the ladies : )
But basically, Facebook is more about 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon than about genuine friendship.
crap is a term used to describe waste metal. Old, unwanted metal such as parts of vehicles, building supplies, and surplus materials, are taken to a wrecking yard (known colloquially as scrapyards), where they are processed for later melting into new products.
Even selling them for parts isn't literally scrapping them;-(
Bkkkkkk. That wasn't an answer good try thank you for playing again. Why did India and Pakistan do so much better? Moving the goalpost huh? Go fuck yourself.
Also, does anyone else share the feeling that the extra commentaries and features on DVDs are pretty much completely worthless? Some are worthless, some add value. I highly recommend the commentary on Robocop, with the director, writer and producer. It's hilarious. I also really appreciated Whedon's commentary on the last episode of Firefly (objects in space), but some of the commentary on the other eps were, well, pointless. I was glad to see the "making of" of A Scanner Darkly, I was sure they had some kind of automated process doing most of their rotoscopy by algorithm, turns out they did it by hand, the maniacs.
From my admittedly small sample size of three, people familiar with the trademark are not pleased with this. And the chances that, sooner or later, these three people will pay good money to see it are... what, 100%?
