I can't think of any films where the trailer added sounds from outside the film's sound mix just for the trailer.

How often do you pay attention to sounds in trailers and cross-reference them with the actual movie afterwards?

I've never done that before, but I remember that the Inspector Gadget trailers had scenes that weren't actually in the movie itself.
Man, that was a bad movie!

I doubt that the suits would have been eager to try something as experimental as taking out sound from space battles.

    Experimental?
Been done in Firefly, been done in SW:epII! AND in 2001: A Space Odyssy (yes, I count a waldo bashing a guy in a suit as a space battle, shaddap ;-).

And as someone else has pointed out, most of the "space" battles in the trailer appear to be in high atmo.
Plus, another poster said something wishfull about a combat system that includes sounds:

I'd like to point out that if you listen to AM radio while watching a distant thunderstorm, you'll hear the lightning's electromagnetic interference through your speakers at the same time as you see the flash. Space battles would make a "sound" if there is something to take the huge EM noise and transform it into air vibration, like, say, a metal box that could resonnate... I dunno, like, a spaceship... possibly one with a comm system...

The Train Job was the weakest of the 14 episodes, it was written in weeked to satisfy the Fox overlord who demanded a first ep. with "more action". They destroyed that show on purpose, or they are all grossly incompetant, either way, I hate them nearly as much as I hate Rick Berman.

"Unjust" is a subjective term. I'm a fan of a just society as most folks are, and so interested to understand the depth of injustice suffered by the group putting on the show.
But a botched delivery by the powers that be of a new series, leading to low ratings is not unjust. It is just a screwup it would seem.

How about airing it, say, 3 times in a row at the time advertised, would that have been "just"?

Because I think airing it at ungodly hours such as "12:07am" and "12:14am" or "not at all" when they advertise it at 8pm and THEN declaring "due to low rating we'll cancel it" quite unjust.

"Stop hitting yourself", the bully says, and you watch, thinking "yeah, that's a fair statement".

So what you're saying is that you haven't actually seen it but you've already got an opinion about it that's set in stone? I'd rather not post any spoilers so just let me say that you really ought to watch it first and then decide how you feel about it.

I saw the preview and read the synopsis.
I knew the Show called "Enterprise" would suck before it came out, I knew as soon as it was announced. I knew because Rick Berman explained what kind of show he thought Star Trek should be in an interview in 1991 and I've seen him work his toward the apotheosis of his vision for a decade, and it was incrementally suckier and suckier. Why? Because what he wanted to make was not Star Trek, he want to milk the cash cow (his words) and he's used focus groups of trekkies to figure out the workings of the golden goose (his words).

I can see how rehashing the TOS mirror universe is appealing. They did that with DS9 and the people who didn't think DS9 was a huge piece of shit swallowed it up, I even watched a few of those eps... sadomasochist evil parralel universe lesbians are indeed fun to watch, but it was T&A, not good storytelling. I know I won't like it, even if there are genuine moments of goodness speckled in there, I know because I have systematically not liked what Berman has been spewing for years, so unless he's been replaced by his mirror universe counterpart, the trend will go unbroken.

It's not one of those "It'll suck" comment, it's an "it will KEEP ON sucking" comment. Lack of delusional enthousiasm, not ignorant prejudice.
You don't know me, so it's normal for you to judge me and my reasons without knowing all the facts, but trust me, if I do like it, I will be EXTREMELY surprised.

Maybe someday I'll watch it, in the mean time, I'd rather not set myself up for frustration and disapointment, again.

I'm specifically referring, BTW, to the episode "In a mirror, darkly: Part 1". No guarantees that part 2 won't fall back on polarity reversed time-traveling space nazi worm hole transporter buffer overflows to resolve everything, but part 1 was a glimpse of what could have been.

This is what I mean, you've enjoyed part one and are full of expectant positivism.
I am waiting for reviews of part one and two before I submit myself to another viewing of Enterprise.
A glimpse... but, by now you've been conditioned to accept something quite low on the scale of tolerability. Is it acutally "good", or does it seem that way because it sucks less?

I've seen the ad, I don't think I'd like it.
Much like DS9's best episode relied on using a lot of footage from a good episode from a better series, I think this too is only rehasing some fun TOS episode, and it's exactly good, it's only reminescent of something better.
