Does anyone know how to do brain surgery... I've been having some really bad headaches lately (quite sure it's a tumor) and since I'm on a tight budget, I need to take care of this myself... So far, I've cut open my skull, but it made a funny noise when I tried to put it back togather... unfortunately, I'm already having a glimpse of the great beyond..............
Which means that the servers will now be really secure, since none of the employees have any idea what they do, and they certainly wouldn't touch them.:)
No that means that they won't have any security patches applied, so whatever holes are discovered/post on the internet, will likely exist for a long time on these servers.
"Whatever. Considering the average mp3 @ 192kbps is 4MB x 100,000 mp3's = approximately 390GB served to a large user base. For $100,000."
From that comment it sounds like the $100,000 is too small... Am I missing something, but I can find unmetered 10 Mbit dedicated servers(dual Xeons) for $400/month, at 10 Mbit you can pump out over 2600 GBytes/month... From the same company I could get 2U Colocation with 500 GB/month for $80, even if I had to get 10-20 of these I'd still be way below the budget.
So you are not multiplying the proper time. So without any precalucated data, it takes 1m 41 secs, having this precalculated info drops it down to 13 sec.
Now to keep it close to 13 secs, you would need 4096x more data - 1.4G x 4096 = ~5.7 Terabytes.
If you don't have any data, and have 4096 more combinations, you need to take 4096 x 1m41s ~= 4.8 days. Not quite as bad but it still looks like like we need a few more bits for the password salt...
We should just make it a 64-bit salt and not have to worry about it until Quantum computers are viable..
I bet Bush sees this as justification to now attack Cuba... Cuba is attacking our right to free speech being blasted into Iran. Time for another 'justified' U.S. attack.;-)
Growing up I remember the quote "God knows the number of hairs on your head." I know that Google doesn't know the answer (I just searched to make sure). So that means that Google is NOT God.
Don't agree to the license... It's a trap. You'll have to agree to their license, and you'll then have a contract with SCO. SCO has already stated that breach-of-contract was stronger than general copyright infringement... They just want more people to sue...
In looking at the specs for the NX80, it lists '32MB' and a footnote, which reads "Actual available space is 16 MB. (A portion is used for data management functions.)" The NX73 is not as bad but still 16M downto 11M usable. Seems like a waste.
WRONG! There hasn't been price climbing.. Their first set of Clies in this style was the NR70 and NR70V, for $499, and $599 respectively. I know, I bought one of the NR70s. Then they released the NX60 and NX70 and guess what their prices where again $499 and $599... And look, the NX73 and NX80 are $499 and $599.... There other model the NZ90 is at $799... but these mid-line ones have been very consistently priced.
It hardly seems worth it to me, unless they can shrink down a DirecTV dish or it comes with a huge spool of coax cable. Free to air TV is slowly being driven out of existence.
HDTV (digital signals) will put the final nail in it's coffin, when the slightly-fuzzy-but-watchable analog channel turns into a skipping jerky unwatchable slideshow.
Have you even seen HDTV??? It's significantly better then the crappy (very low-bitrate) MPEG-2 stream that DirectTV provides.
Or better yet, buy 2... after all M$ is counting on the ammount of games you have to make a profit, they are losing money on the consoles.
So if the equipment costs MS $300-$350, if you buy it for $199, they are losing $100-$150 on the XBox console. If you don't buy it they just lost $300-$350... It just sits on the shelf and they lost more money. Also when you buy it, it provides MS with the numbers they want to present to game makers. The more 'units sold' MS can boast to the game maker, the more software and 'exclusive' titles they will be able to get for the box, which will in turn cause more 'real' customers to buy more XBoxes (and games). Each unit sold allows MS to get to 'Critical Mass'.
I still don't have a passport account because I don't want to add to the 'critical mass' for their Passport system. Even though it means I can't follow crash reports that I send to them. I think they are 'illegally' tying their bug reporting system to their passport accounts just to get the 'critical mass' needed for developers/websites to decide to support the passport system. It would be just as easy for them to give me a unique tracking number for each crash I submitted so that I could track the problem, but of course they wouldn't gain anything (new account, more personal information, etc) from it.
The 'Project Gutenberg' is about making old books that have (finally) fallen into public domain available to whoever wants it. Those are the books I'm sure that they want to have proofed.
My laptop... has the same feature (Compaq Armada E500), although you need to enable it by installing a SpeedStep
No it doesn't... did you even read the article? Mobile chips have the Speedstep function, that function is not on desktop chips, so to save some money Dell is using a some hack to the bios to effectively throttle the desktop CPU.
I also bet your laptop doesn't lose half of it's speed, my 700 MHz PIII goes down to 550 when on battery mode, not 350.
Doesn't have to be FREE, just provide a nice discount, both Palm and Sony has developer programs that provide nice discounts for the products. They have a 3 per item limit, which is fine to avoid abuse.
They are also quite open with the specs, Palm provides/helps with free tools (GCC) to compile. This helps the student/hobbiest not feel guilty about spending hundreds for development tools that they haven't used as much as they thought they would.

On his Free Mike Hawash site, they still have paypal donations links, and statements about his 'innocence'. I wonder how much money they racked it.
No that means that they won't have any security patches applied, so whatever holes are discovered/post on the internet, will likely exist for a long time on these servers.
They claim you can delete pictures you think are bad... kinda hard to do that with film.
Now we just need to string a tin can to the neighbor's house and use it for a data connection.
Pratical value -> Near Zero
Sentimental value -> high.

No, you have 30 days to start watching it, but once you do, only 24 hours to watch it.

If you don't like MS's terms, just don't use it... Vote with your money... don't buy the XBOX, don't buy XBoxLive...
A good name would be teens.us.... but it's already taken, and is not kid-friendly...
So on the contest site (sonyericsson.com), in the rules it states that it's a EUR 399 value
The prize consists of one Sony Ericsson GPRS PC Card Modem, GC75, which has a recommended retail price of EUR 399.

CDex -> for converting their CDs to MP3...
An in-depth article about the formats and the Sony drive is over at news.com.
But since alot of home users are buying Wireless Routers. They face a similar attack from the wireless interface as from the public internet...
