hmmm... I'm single and I walk to one of a couple of places to buy food daily. I'm sure I pay a bit extra but do so willingly. We don't have those cards where I live & I pay in cash so they don't know who I am or my shopping habits. No Way! Valve amps sound great and look great. They are also fun and interesting to build (unlike solid state amps). No Gold plated connectors or $2500 power cables required!
I am in the palnning stages of new valve amp to build during short days of the winter.
The biggest problem with that idea is that Apple & Microsoft are in largly different markets. Microsoft is aiming for all of the unwashed masses, while Apple is aiming a fair bit higher.
Still it's been worth the effort to get all the people that I have to suport for free on to a G5 Mac of some sort. Although given the number of photos my mum is sending of her Grandkids (my sisters) sometimes I wonder....
When I can talk to my friends in the US (who only have cell phones) from my Mac in the EU with having to become telekom engineer (or pay the zillion euro per minute charge I get from my cell) because none of us have land lines...
You know, America is more free than some places. But it's fewer places than it was in 1980 (the year I became an American) and still fewer than in 2000 (the year I left).
