    Where can I get one of those t-shirt? I really think it's the best for scary MS fanatics! They really hate to see the better stuff on Borland stuff!

    Borland has always been a special corporation. See theirs newsgroups, ttheir tecnical support, but professional and amateur (Hi TeamB!). It's good to know they quickly react to this.

    The Borland approach to the onlie community has always more friendlier than of Microsoft, it has mostly a enterprise primarly concerned with the individual developer not the consumer mass market. So it isn't difficult to accept the explanation of Borland for the misunderstand.
    But this is one of the notorious examples of read the LITTLE LETTERS, before purchase!!

    Yes it can be very unpleasant when you really need a document and you go to the website to get it and send it as fast you can and you find out that there is only a doc verson. I happen to me a few times but I had the really nice experience to be an hour ago in a site where i really needed its form and there were two versions, a doc and a rtf ( explicity for unix boxes). It was a nice surprise.

    It shows that even gov departments can be flexible and open minded.

    There are already Cds with this. So why not create a way tosupport, wich should be reliable and tax deductible, for donate the money? It would be far less expensive, didn't had to have a hard logistics, only an account on some emonet stuff and a piece of paper for tax deductions!

    Did anyone make a measure of the complexity of this message? That is a measure of the power of the sender.
    The Knowledge Complexity of a message is one of most important measures of information. It takes out all the 'random', 'non-info' part of the message and try to see if there is any relevant info left.

    Why don't sent the message on plain language? Or even the message with the explanation? It can be found some centuries from now on a earth outpost and they will very much appreciate the help to translate it.

    Samba is one of the best examples of systems integration I ever seen. They tried to bring together two opposite sides that didn't seem to be interested to be together and did a terrific job.

    Samba should be at the next Carnival in Rio, guys!!

    That's it: "Project: UFO" (26 episodes). The Project Bluebook is the name of the USAF organization the actors are always talking about. It is in the 70s, of course is color. The sets are very naive and Mulder&Scully are two Air Force guys, a Major and a Sargent. In each episode they have to decide if a new UFO sightseeing is a real one or a strange combination of factors. The plots are not very good, some episodes the solution is a bit alien.

    Of course counting lines of code isn't the best approach. But that was what the original poster implied. I didn't see yet a agreed method to achieve the complexity of a software project.

    When measuring that what are we measuring? The new knowledge adquired? The depth of this knowledge? The de facto wheigt of the manuals?

    Back here they are replaying the 'Blue Book Serie', a kind of X-Files of the 50's or 60's. In color with lot of flying objects. And every episode there seems to be a scientific explanation for the phenomenon. There is always a non UFO.
    It's funny to see the non 'special effects0 of those days. Part of the fun is to see who they see the aliens. Short guys with black clothes/'skin/ and white eyes.

    And to extend the code you don't reuse it?

    What is missing for people start massivelly using a free Office Pack is a huge pub campaign.

    But you can't pay that with the revenues from free software.

    So maybe selling the only thing people are ready to pay: Good and professioanl advice of how to use that software.

    So a enterprise able to put a huge call center and charge that will be the best one to really "sell " a free Office Pack.

    Environment Defense and Cultural Heritage Defense are big sciences. Like you can see whem you read a National Geographic Magazine or go to a Camp Site of Maya Culture. Or Study the Congo Rain Forest or The Amazons.

    Nobel create the prizes for what he think was the most important thinks at that time. Nowadays people thing different about thing. Environment and Cultural Heritage is a very serious issue.

    Math and Computer Science have a very importante Awards very well known in theirs fields but not known outside their borders. I guess you should promote more those Awards, gave them the same status that of the Nobel.

    The Maths equivalent of the Nobel prize is the Fields medal [st-andrews.ac.uk].


    The Fields Medal has a different purpose than the Nobel. It's Prize for young scientists. It's a Prize for guidelines.

    The Nobel Prize has a more broad ideals, and it's far more known

    1-3 spam/week by fax proves it, they probably get more e-spam that that per hour.

    The spam/jokes/etc. were a problem on fax 10/20yrs ago. People tell me they used to get those pictures drawn with letters by fax every other day. Now yoy get all that junk on e-mail.

    The better part of it is that now you can filter your email.

    Before email all the spam used to be by s-mail, telex and fax. Now we are free from spam. Thank you email for been there!!

    Yes, for a long time now I want to do the same. I think an on the field participation, build a network, teaching people how to do that could be a goood think. And also working from my home ountry developing software they need. I suppose most od this idees are done already. Like on East Timor, UN built some IT infraestructure. But a computer related Org could be more productive. I would like to know about one or to help build one. What do you say?
