    Independent bands in Indianapolis produce a whole albums for under $10,000 by using their own computer as the studio mix board, cd burner, and etc..

    Thats one of the many problems of the music industry..the cost to produce an album using latest technology went way down and yet the music industry did not adjust to offer better quality albums..so the big question is what did they do with the money?

    Was it snorted up their collective noses?

    May her children in ten years time teach her about:

    1. Music is human nature, it cannot be held and imprisioned by the RIAA!
    2. That even kids can download music and then go out and buy it.
    3. That even kids can record their own orginal music without a record label and make money,
    4. That music put out by only ten record labels will sound like shit for lack of choice.
    5. That Heavy Metal only has one sound level, LOUD!

    What have you learned about selling yourself in this environment to overcome the objectections about your criminal convictions that might be of use to other slashdotters?

    Side Note: some of us slashdotters have minor run ins with law in our past that coudl obviously if they are using computer kislls within the law make use of what you have learned in this area, Kevin..

    Universities mid 1970s through 1980s could not teach unix because of unix licensing bullshit..thus instead fo cs majors knowing the power and security features of unix when coding new OSes did something unsecure and mind numb such as VMS and windows and winNT!

    Example two:

    Security professionals have claimed for ten years that the most secure OSes are those whose cyrpto functions and code are up for open full review and modification.. guess which OSes fail this requirement? Notice tha tjus t opening the code to view with an NDA from hell does not deal with the problem.. its a PR smoke screen

    "Items bought withint the state shall be charged a sales tax of.."

    If it snot bought in the state you cannot be charged a sales tax because states cannot charge taxes on intyerstate commerce only feds can..

    Now please will someone read something before they post it.. please.. the FUD is getting deep in here and I am drowning in it...

    Where does AIMSBIOS stand as far as getting a root certificate to run any Opensource OS or program under this new BIOS.. I believe under the DARPA project which btw already has run linux and BSd under its bios that youc an get a free root certificate to run any OS...

    Does AIMSBIOS believe inthe same poplicy or are we going to see OpenSource held hostage!

    If we are goign to send these crackers to jail then the firm hired by RIAA to crack into file sharing syste4ms shoudl also go to jail..

    The real issue is destruciton of property in that how much is that property worth and the damage to said property..

    If you dmage a One million dollar car it would seem reasonable to supsect that the eistmate is going to be over 10% the value to that item..

    But like the word that has been passed out at defcon if you don't have the money to pay for damages than don't do the crime!
