my first Linux install was Slackware 3 off floppies 5 or so years ago. I know what I'm doing
I hate to be the one to break this to you... but you really dont.
Just because you installed slack3 does not mean in anyway you know what your doing, I hate it when people say "oh I installed version N" and for some crazy reason believe that makes them knowledgable of GNU/Linux... its just madness.. I started on windows 3.11, and have had to follow the windows all the way to XP and 2003, have you followed GNU/Linux to this date? and used it day in day out? proberly not.
As mad as it seems it does make sense, this way you can bolt on anykind of radio/antenna you wanted, should give plenty of us somthing todo on a slow sunday, wifi over packet radio anyone??;)
My ideas are proberly floored I know, sorry, but its sunday and its not only/. thats slow right now;p
This would make setting up a wireless network a lot simpler.
Woah there, whats so hard with the way its setup now? pcmcia is a matter of plug and go, pci is a matter of modprobe if that.. theres nothing hard about wifi... its a nic with a wireless medium.. thats all.
Now if intel had some new fangled wep replacement then that would make things simple, no more mac rules on my fw would be nice.. which is unlikely.
Once the WTO takes control to determine proper content ( ie censorship ), there will be rules.. laws, and penalties for useage, content, accessablity, etc..
Lets pray that dosnt happen then..:/ The internet is proberly the only true freedom of speece any of us have, and its slowly slipping away to goverenment and grab asstic corporations.. pretty sad thought that one day we may be breaking a law for saying what we think online..
Anyway this was rules about end user interaction, how they go about reaching there target content, nothing todo with the "rules" of who owns the net etc.. chill out ppl;)
I love it when/. posts jokes.. you are joking right?.. right?.... hello?

Hangon, I make a perfectly accurate statement, get modded down as a troll, you spuw out some random garbage and get modded up? you got to be fucking kidding me!
Actualy they've only "Applied" for the patent.. but hold on to that comment bro Im sure it will fit in nicely when/. does post news on the application going through.
OK so Im not 100% clued up on how patents are accepted, and yes I know this one hasnt yet but Im willing to bet my left pinky it will.. but isnt there some kind off group of experts in the computing field that overlook these before there granted? there dosnt seem to be.. but just how hard would it be to actualy have people who have a broad knowledge of current technologies to make sure blatern pria art isnt being stood on.. the patent office sure as hell charges enough for them, so why are they doing such a bad job??
That is SUCH a senseless comment, if you install software from "Symantec" that blocks all theses ads then you already made that choice as the consumer.
Real programmers use Java ey? Real programmers use Java?! the fact Java is not a "real" programming language anyway begs the question.. are you a retard?
At least come up with something constructive against PHP instead of making one of the most insulting comments Ive ever heard against "real" programmers.
Anyway anything PHP is slow at can be fixed simply by codeing up a C module to handle what ever it is thats taking to long.. not many people have bothered to mention this have they.. no its not PHP anymore but PHP gives you that option atleast.
"It stops short of demanding that GCC developers strip SCO support from the compiler"
It done no such thing. Thats what Im pointing out. Also the other 99% of the/. community didnt seem to notice this either.. there all ranting on like stallman demanded people drop support...
this README dosnt say to strip support at all.. it just says its been urged.. and as such the README states this will only effect the end users not SCO..
Bloody well put mate, lets hope the mods get this rated up before everyone else miss's it.
thats why you gotta love the intelligent folk who know how to driver!!!
;)
omg I crack myself up sometimes.

there goes the root servers.. :(
and then buy the cards at cheaper prices than full implementations on cards would cost.
;)
Im not trying to be picky, but that made no sense, what you mean is.. this can be seen as the winmodem of wifi?
Early hard drive and floppy controllers used to only be on cards, too.
My raid controller is on a pci card... its not very early though
modprobe doesn't seem to me to be a simple way to set up anything.
;)
Id take modprobe over windows drivers anyday
I know it depends on the software, any hardware depends on software at the end of the day.
Why put in a chipset without a radio?
;)

Its not a programming language. I hope atleast someone reading this learns that fact.

forgot about PATH settings for one.
no I think the point that was trying to be made is Java is just to much hassle in all areas; installation being one of them.
