I also think that NOA has made a mediocre job of marketing their products.

But Perry Kaplan sounds like your generic Marketroid. NOA should replace her with a generic Metroid!

Would we have the Illiad if the Greeks had copyrights?

What about the bible? mythological stories? classical theatre plays?

Ok, let's talk about "physical objects".

What if someone had a patent on columns? Chapels? Would your precious, uncopiable Sistine Chapel even existed? Maybe the Church would have waited until the patents had expired, but, by the time that happened, probably Michelangelo would be dead.

The greatest works of art were created in times no copyright existed. Today, Hollywood push movies that are remakes of old hits, or book adaptations. They can't create anything new.

In Doom the camera was fixed behind a weapon. You have a pistol, a shotgun, a rocket launcher, a machine gun and two energy guns (one fast and weak, and the other slow but powerful). Also you could use a chainsaw.

Today games have lost the chainsaw, and added a sniper rifle. So much for gameplay advance.

Then farmers won't be able to compete.

For those farmers who stay in the market, selling those rare items that Blizzard won't sell (because they wouldn't want to make them available without playing), Blizzard should just buy from them, track the players when the transaction is done, and curse said characters.

And by cursing characters I don't mean deleting characters. Just giving them less chance of getting gold and worse treasure, and make them lose the occasional item.

Then very few farmers will survive.

I lost all respect for Mac usability, when I tried to eject a disc on Mac OS 9.

I spent like 10 minutes looking for a menu. In the end, I discovered that you have to drag the disc to the trash. I guess it is intuitive (as it ocurred to me, eventually), but it is just an idiotic way of doing things.

What was so bad about a menu, or option on the disc icon?

Also, Quicktime for Windows doesn't make a good case for the usability expertise of the Apple developers.

I will first drop resolution, to get more framerate. i will always prefer smoother animation to hig res chopiness.

And, as for anything below 1024 being silly, that is just because PC games tend to have lots of menus and small HUDs, that do not look well on 800x600 or lower. But you really are not losing gameplay, unless you count things like not being able to snipe people from one side of the map to the other in BF2.

i think it will be important for the jocks who buy Madden XX every year, as they will always want the latest rooster, best graphics, etc. And EA can deliver said graphics, so HD will be important to them.

Xbox 360 developers who are just porting games from the PC will benefit too, since they won't be limited by the resolution of the TV anymore (but they have the extra hurdle of a new architecture this time).

But every company will still have to consider the LARGE amount of gamers stuck in the 640x480 era, as they cannot lose those sales. So, in the end, changes won't be as drastic.
