Shakespeare is mono-cultural, reason enough for it to be discarded upon the ashcan of history along with all the other bullshit written by whites for whites. Let's let some air into our universities and have undergraduates read works by diverse authors instead of the same old crap.

Well, you have to realize that the whole point of this exercise is to draw a line between "creative people" and "the other". We creative people are the good ones...those others...gosh, they're capable of violence. We good people are the correct ones, and it is not evil to look down on the humble folk. After all, what kind of creative would call himself fearful of people who can't create so much as a scrapbook unless they're following an example from youtube posted by...a creative.

Look, Vincent van Gogh is a role model emulated by creatives worldwide. The fact is, there are way too many non-creatives and they are screwing up the planet. Just imagine how much better the world would be if every member of the Tea Party suddenly disappeared overnight. Oh, we can dream....

  14. Re:Most Africans are pretty sensible people on Malaria Vaccine Nearing Reality · · Score: 0

Look, the fact is that Africa (and the entire globe) is overpopulated. Curing diseases just makes the problem worse. What we really need is a pan-global epidemic that reduces the human population from 7.5 billion to around 500 million. That number is sustainable. It would be great if said disease strikes at the developed world first, but we can't hope for it. We can only anticipate that MERS makes the jump from local infection to global plague during the Hajj. Otherwise we as a planet are screwed.

IIRC Ted Turner's TBS was the first to start broadcasting commercials, and I thought it was the dumbest idea ever. I'm already paying for cable, why is that jackass inserting ads?

Of course it sounds like that's disappeared down the memory hole and history is being rewritten. Rural CATV systems might be called "cable TV" but that isn't what we had in the suburbs in the 80s.

What the hell? Spoken like a ignorant stereotype of Americans. At what point, exactly did the US government EVER give fuck all about artistic, philosophical, and scientific endeavors? The only reason NASA was funded in the first place was the Space Race. Afterwards science was funded out of pure selfishness, in order to be #1.

As a US citizen, it is remarkably easy to travel around the world. I suggest trying. World travel is a great enlightened - you see exactly how fucked-up the rest of the world is. In addition lots and lots of Americans can't stand living anywhere but America. The food is all wrong, the climate is uncomfortable, the locals constantly scheme and cheat foreigners, I could go on and on. A quick trip to an expat bar should give you dozens of stories. For example, I got my ass kicked a couple of months ago because some guy didn't like Americans. "Fuck Boston" he said in English, less than 24 hours after Muslims blew up the Boston Marathon. By the way, as an expat the IRS will consider you a traitorous tax-dodger until proven otherwise.

According to my French friends (I've lived out of America for 10 years now BTW) the France of today is a shadow of what it once was. Unsafe, taxed to hell, even the French language itself is being eroded by a steady stream of Englishisms.

If you don't like America, I suggest getting the fuck out and stop complaining. I think you will very quickly find that you hate it. Most Americans do. If not, then welcome to the tiny community of Americans who live abroad and love it.
