SxSW is completely mainstream. It's not underground, or alternative, or cool in any way. It's just a whole lot of people who ordinarily consider Austin, Texas flyover territory, and muddy their boots once a year so as to see and be seen. This director we're speaking of would not even have his film featured at SxSW unless he was in the "in crowd".
Yeah, we played the shit out of Karate Champ. Once you got the moves memorized it was great. Very tactical, move and counter-move. We also used to play Track & Field, but that game was a lot of button-slapping, and not as deep as Karate Champ.
Yup, that's Telco's idea of a redundant circuit...two wires in the same conduit.
Seen it too many times.

I work for one reason, money. The second I don't get a paycheck, I'm out the door. I'm especially not giving a company that can't pay me, more of my money!
Don't think that this is a mercurial or bad way to think. What would your employer have to say if you reneged on your half of the employment agreement, and then you had the nerve to demand six months of living expenses?

Linux is the operating system, not the graphical user shell.
You think "linux is slow" on your old laptop, turn off the graphical interface and use the terminal. I had a 486/25 with 20Mb RAM running 1.2.13 and I considered it "fast as lightning".
I believe there is a classification system for stars that includes an "M class". But habitable planets are found in F- and G-class stars. The root of the problem is that TV writers couldn't care a fig for science, a condition that will never change.
pj & j? I have no idea what kind of Yankee nastiness that is, but Elvis had peanut-butter-and-banana sandwiches, and I can say they're rather good, if a bit sticky.

How many ICBMs were "dropped" over Japan again?
I'd advise reading the USAF bombing survey for a more educated idea of what large-scale city devastation entails. Your post, above, came off as rather ignorant.
What!! The freeze-dried peaches were the absolute worst of any MRE portion I've tried. They were musty, dry, and tasted like something you'd sweep up in a dustpan. The chicken a la king was a close second in slimy nastiness. This was post-desert storm, so it could have changed.
Actually I rather like the first season of Simpsons...the show was just a show back then, and didn't carry around the baggage that it does now. That being said, I'm glad the Tick was cancelled. I watched an episode, and it was just the usual sitcom formula that hasn't been refreshed since 1972. Better to have it dead and gone, than possibly become popular and tarnish the Tick's image.
Interesting, I didn't know that Solaris 9 wouldn't have an Intel version. I'm actually rather glad this will be taking place, as every single person I've ever talked to who installed Solaris/x86 was a linux newbie who typically wanted to get as many operating systems on his hard drive as possible. This resulted in so, so many frequently-asked questions (files dns in/etc/resolv.conf anyone?)
Never have I seen a Solaris/x86 installation used for real work, although I'm sure they're out there. Serious Solaris users will always get the media kit anyway, so the removal of the burnable download link will have a minimal impact.
If a defendant ever successfully uses the "but I turned the apache log directive off" defense, you can bet that a law will be passed that requires all server operators to keep logs. Too onerous, you say? No more so than collecting income taxes from every person in the country, or other such tasks.
Movies make money because of effective marketing, and because there is a rather large-ish group of people out there who will go see *any* crappy Hollywood movie that comes out, as long as it's new. Money-making is, in fact, the primary barometer of "good film" in Hollywood, because it's the whole reason for Hollywood's existence, and they like to reward the good guys.
I always thought in this case "dark" was used in the sense of "a lack of knowledge" rather than "a lack of illumination". Before 1959, nobody knew what the side of the moon that faced away from Earth looked like. I don't know why astronomers never seem to be aware of this fact, and always get up in arms because they think everyone else thinks one side of the moon never gets any sunlight.

Congratulations, you just bypassed security, and informed others of the method of circumvention you used, in a public forum no less. The fact that the security involved was trivially breakable is irrelevant.

I only work for shady employers...anyone have advice on getting a mail-order diploma? I'd want to get a "good" one, with a phone number to call and transcripts if necessary. Any help?
I'm not really trying to be dishonest, but there's no way I can go back to the poverty and tedium of student living.
That's about what they spend per episode nowadays, and sci-fi TV shows are still as popular as ever. It must be the quality of the scripts and the acting that keeps these shows going.

I'd be more interested in how to refute the "it sucks because it's old" argument, rather than a dry quotation of the definition of such.
Nah, not since Sun came out with the Sun Blade 100. It's a real Unix workstation for only $950 and it takes standard PC memory and ISA hard drives.
