We aren't talking about the Federal Gov't. We're talking about municipalities. Effectively, this is the same as getting together with your 5,000 best friends and sharing the costs associated with running an ISP and installing the needed infrastructure. Only the relationship is formalized, and the City Gov't already has lawyers.

That's exactly the difference. It costs me maybe 50 bucks a month and some of my time to run a decent, informative, niche website.

I don't even know where I'd begin to try to launch a niche TV station. But I know it'd cost a hell of a lot more.

The "democratizing" impact of hte Internet is the very low entry barrier. It's not about where most people spend there time. Most people only watch four TV stations; we don't realy care about them.

What we care about is that even though 99% of the people may not give two shits about some topic or other, that 1% will still have a presence. That's what matters! The information will be there, with little regard for your desire for it to be there.

Windows XP is a revolution in computing, ease of use, stability, multimedia, Windows XP has it all.

Haven't used the MacOS in a the last few years, have you? As I recall, Apple had built-in suport for SCSI in 1986, Firewire (an Apple Trademark, BTW, it's 1394 in Windows)in 1996, and USB in 1998.

Not that I use it anymore, but Apple was a few years ahead of MS where connectivity and multimedia are concerned.

Releasing the details puts pressure on the companies to fix the damn thing. Without that pressure, MS would feel little to no pressure to fix what they screwed up in the first place. You wouldn't be doing anyone but MS a favor by withholding this info. The lesson to be lerned is that if you son't want ot lose money from downtime and reboots, don't use Microsoft on your servers.
