    Nope... It's just spelt that way. It's the result of romanising Chinese names gone wrong. How the name is spelt doesn't actually reflect the way it's correctly pronounced, but we try for an astatically pleasing spelling that's as close to actual pronunciation as possible. Translating according to standards sometimes gives a person a funny name when read by a person not familiar with the original language - which is why it's translated in the 1st place.

    The reverse is also true. Like how in Chinese coca-cola only sounds like coca-cola but doesn't actually mean the same thing, reason being that the literal translation is a PR nightmare.

    It's Chow Yun-Fatt, and Fatt is pronounced 'fuddt', not 'fat', regardless of his weight.

    I still laugh every time someone calls him Chow Yun-Fat... sounds like Chow on ur'own fat.

    Obviously if we are just going to go back there and plant another flag then hell NO, wo shouldn't go back.

    But say theres an experiment or a whole list of experiments that we need to carry out there then why not?

    Yes. It's my humble opnion that IE be outlawed. It's got too many issues and it's in no hurry to fix them.

    The one good thing i have wished that they'd do with a monopoly with browsers is fix our freaking font problem by implimenting some sort of universal font embedding.

    But no, they can't even follow standards right, let alone spell out constructive ones.

    That we all need to go back to the tried and tested punch card.

    Maybe it could be made mandatory that in conjunction with an electronicly kept record, a physical card is stamped in ink as well.

    That way payroll would still be as easily kept and tallied by computer and if theres an error or suspected hanky panky, we could refer to the stamp card.

    I would think that because as desktop publishing tools, MS Word and even MS Publisher totally SUCKS ASS!

    Paragraphs run, fonts don't kern correctly, line widths magicly change when you open the file on other PC and the list goes on and on.

    Word is only good for 1 thing. Word Processing. Publisher is good for zip.

    You know, just taking a shot, but we could try whatever trick it is Creative uses to record sounds currently playing on your system without the need for a feedback cable.

    Catch the audio after it's be decoded by iTunes.

    Instead of banning windows, they can do the most painful thing. Ever. That is to not recognise any of Microsoft's patents and copyrights and allow every piece of MS software to be freely copied, reverse engineered and hacked.

    It migth not happen, but it's a very good alternative to banning Windows, and even more painful to MS.

    Thats only half true. If you were a pirate with access to a DVD stamping machine, you could make bit for bit copies. Pirates DO do that by the way. They are rich enough.

    Oh the Irony. CD-R(W)s are a joke. I have had Plextor CD-Rs become unreadable in a couple of years they spent in a dark closet in my house. I suspect DVD-+R(W)s are even worse due to the higher data density. Thats Kodak makes it's Ultima line of CD-R's for. When processed and stored correctly, Kodak Ultima discs have "[A 95% chance of] 95% of properly recorded discs stored at the recommended dark storage condition (25C, 40% RH) will have a lifetime of greater than217 years ."
