The spacing on the Mac keyboards (USB and the Macbook Pro laptops to be precise) is precision spaced.
I remember reading a study somewhere about how the spacing ratio and the caplet height aspect was designed to keep the hands at a "natural" orientation for like 85% of use.. so you dont have to "Stretch" to reach common keys and cuff and wrist movement is minimal.
I think the vertical handshake style mice are probably even better but the apple keyboard designs are ace....And while im not a fan of the latest gen USB-C laptop form factor, every other keyboard design in the industry seems superflous, distracting..and possibly hazardous.. im looking at you HP fullsize keyboards)

You should try Vmware. (i believe the player and server version are now free). I have a server that runs fedora 5 and vmware GSX server. Installed in vmware (as guests) is windows 2003, windows XP and windows 2000 all on the same machine.
Each server runs as if it were an independent machine, if one goes down it doesnt take the whole box with it, each machine bridges to the main interface and has full network connectivity, viruses that affect one guest dont affect the others. I have been running this configuration for about 4 years and havent looked back to dual boot madness since..
DUDE FUCK THIS! Why the hell dont we have Warp drive yet??? we cant even get to saturn and back in an hour..What the heck good is it to know about all these planets if we cant DO anything with them!
I passively disagree. A relationship takes sacrifice but shouldnt take effort (there is a difference). If you're at a point in your life where you feel you have to choose between your gaming and your SO... Leave her.. you're not ready.. This is only the first of many sacrifices that you'll encounter later in your life. Its not about being immature (quite the contrary..an immature solution would be to try to juggle the two, or sneaking in a few hours when you should be watching the kids).. its about knowing yourself. Once you get to a point where you coudlnt imagine being without that special someone, you wont find yourself giving a second (or first) thought in regards to something as trivial as a gaming habit coming between you.
Besides.. its not like she's bitching about football..

But seriously, I think this is a great step in the right direction as far as conserving not only the lives of those in danger but also those of the brave people attempting to rescue them. What would be interesting to know is how soon American based construction and demolition corporations would be snapping this up.. Look close. This isnt much large than a standard issue BOBcat and the extra servo arms add tons of additional flexibility (npi)..
Right but capita income is very likely HIGHER where you live. Higher salaries. Any H1's that come in will also be subject to the same situation.
HOWEVER: Many tend to further slash costs by getting roomates, car pooling etc. After all the H1 is still a temporary work visa not a "Get in free" citizenship card. Those that wish to stay on will obviously want the same things that you have and then THEY will in turn be subject to the same hardships that you (as well as me) would face when the next round of outsourcing/job cuts happen...
If companies PURCHASE products for pennies on the dollar from oversees, selling them at US prices oversees isnt even possible. The same for products manufactured here (obviously costing more to produce and package) is still more than they could hope to make selling it oversees.
The only situation where that scenario is even viable is a company trying to recoup costs (for what its worth). Any company would be HAPPY to lower profits to get a portion of their original RSP. It would still be way higher than what they could get in oversees sales..
You are absolutely right. No company would bring in an H1B visa applicant if it is not going to cost them less. (hell it COSTS to have someone bought over).. If you are willing to accept less for the same job you are doing, then the whole discussion is moot!
Having a low paying job is ALWAYS better than not having a job at all.
I know how you feel and i know if i were in that situation would I would be pissed and feel the same way. But it still doesnt make it "unfair". If i need a V8 truck FIRST AND FOREMOST and i could either pay 38k for a Ford Explorer or 29k for a Dodge Durango, which do you think im going to do? Thats what these corporations look at: their own bottom line. OTOH, if you were at a job pulling in 55 grand with a 5 year contract and you get an offer for 75 grand and a 5 (or more ) year contract, What are you gonna do? Its been like that for years except now corporations are taking advantage of it. People should stop griping about "patriotism", "the government taking care of its citizens" and "lowering the quality of what it is to be an american"..it has ALWAYS been about capitlisim and the pursuit of personal wealth for everyone in this country. I am a born and raised american citizen of middle eastern descent in the IT field and im in the same boat as all of you "regular" citizens here.. Yeah it sucks being subject to having your cushy job given to someone who will do it for 1/3rd of what you pull in but thats the way the industry is. Stay on your toes, get a WIDE variety of IT skills so you have more options available to you. Spend more time competing and less time bitching and you'll see how less this whole thing will really affect you as an individual in the long run.
20 years ago that was the point. Then IT blossmed and you have people with higher work experience then academic accomplishment in more demand. Thats just the way it is.
It also depends on your field. If your in a science or medical field, no educational background will get you no where FAST... IT (particularly dev) positions are just a strange but necessary anamoly i guess..
I agree with you. Its not so much about fairness as it is about emotions running high about losing your job to someone who can do it for less. From a corporations POV it just makes sense. From mine it hurts but that doesnt make it right for me to flame policies and (worse) people benefiting from such a measure.
They cant. The cost of living will be driven down actually because of this. If the economy cant move products, real estate and goods (because people cant afford them) they will be FORCED to lower costs and accept lower profits.
Actually, on that note, Id say the software makers are screwing themselves by raising the cost of software simply because the average person who "needs" a product is also looking for the most convenient way to get it. I think its rare that the average person would rather spend time trying to "acquire" a reasonably priced piece of software. Especially for design and development tools. Who'd want to spend manhours trying to download a package from the internet that 'll take em all of 20 minutes to purchase? The software developers should realize this and try to make their profits in volume sales. Please note the keyword "reasonable" here.:)
The persons involved in the piracy as a game or activity like the article mentions wont be affected either way, but the percentage of them is much lower than that of the average users..
Im for this in part. Perhaps if a set of guidelines is established for each category of software to adhere to, this kind of law will have more ground to stand on. Car manufacturers cant build cars that have automatic windows that work only after the button is pressed 3 times on sunny wednesday morning. Its just not common sense much less convenient. The same can be said for certain software. We know that webservers have to do one thing and one thing only: serve html pages. Thats standard number one. Now if someone installs apache for example and then starts setting up chilisoft asp and in turn opens up a vulnerability, you dont blame apache, you blame at most chilisoft and at least your systems administrator. The same model could be used in the case of IIS (yeah i admit, its microsofts own fault for trying to tightly integrate everything but u see where im going). With all the various web servers, email management software, web browsers etc, there should be some strict guidelines these packages MUST adhere to before being deemed consumer ready. Lets create a consumer level class of software products that can be said to be functionally fit according to the So-and-so-Hues and Madison Quality of assurance guide. Open source software would probably benefit the most from such a model as it will help to abolish its prejudice of being "unworthy because theirs no capitalist corporate entity to be held liable"..
