I have a windows laptop for work which I'm certain I didn't install any drivers on and it charges. Also works on a Mac laptop. Both of them mount it as a disk, so maybe it's the generic USB storage drivers that allow it to charge.
It installs drivers, but that is because it shows up as a storage device. I have no idea if it needs those for charging at full speed.
I don't have any USB wall chargers to test with other than the one that came with the phone, so I can't say if it works or not with a generic USB charger.
Well there's a difference. If a pay $5 for a drink I know exactly what I'm getting. With the app store I'm paying $5 for something where I have no idea if I'm getting anything worthwhile in return.
And also, the ssh apps I was looking at were at least $4 each, so it is more like $10-15 to try them all out. Repeat that for other apps of interest and it could add up.
I don't know about that, maybe only some of their hardware have that problem. I can charge my phone and my Moto headset from a USB cable plugged into my Linux box and I'm pretty sure I didn't install any special drivers.
It's not small compared to USB. Right both my phone and wireless headset use the same USB charger so I only need one charger in my car. I really can't imagine ever being able to squeeze a dock connector plug onto the headset.
I was only talking about iPhone apps there. I've been using computers for a long time, I'm sure I've downloaded an app illegally at some point. I do stick mostly to FOSS though, so it's not something I've done in recent memory.
I was looking for ssh apps on my girlfriends iPhone the other day. None of them offered demo versions. I looked online for reviews, and they were mixed so I opted just to forget about it instead of wasting my money.
Well, I didn't choose to bother with the Apple App store, I've only used it on my girlfriends phone. I'm holding out for an Android phone for myself. I haven't used their market yet but rumor has it that they do allow trial periods.
But seriously, I think the app store really needs to give you a trial period before you have to pay for apps. So many of the programs out there are crap, I'm not willing to pay for 5 programs just to find one that does what I want.
Well my point sort of is that if you pirate you necessarily are a criminal since that's how pirating is defined. You can object all you like to what is illegal in the states these days and I'll probably be right there with you, but illegal is still illegal.
Oh right. If I can't be bothered to read the articles, which are the only reason to come to this bloody site, I'm sure as hell not going to fully read the comments I reply to:)
What difference does it make how quick the counting is? No matter how fast you count, the officials will still get sworn in on the same date ~2 months later.
You seem to be missing the point. He already knows having clients index the shares is a problem, that's why he's asking how to avoid that. Disabling searching altogether is not a solution because obviously he wants to be able to search.
I think there are a lot of server administrators and cellphone manufacturers that would disagree with you. It may not be a major desktop OS, but it's certainly a major OS.

Then don't forget that the carbon emissions from pets are largely carbon neutral.

I doubt many dittos heads have the skills to be malicious hackers.

Motorola already standardized on mini-USB at least 3 years ago.

Maybe, but I've personally never pirated an app. But there's some I've not purchased that I might of had there been a trial available.

Legal pirating? I don't believe that's possible.
There's no minimum price to buy the game for. If you get it for free then you're not exactly buying it, are you?

Also doesn't take into account how many Windows users consider reinstalling the OS the solution to everything.
Why would you be dead at a red light? If you're not moving then you're motors are drawing power.

You know they probably won't do that anymore if they're required to use shielded glass.
Frankly it's not fine for most people. I like being notified of an instant message while I'm listening to an MP3 or TV.
Is there anything that Ubuntu is the best at integrating?
