"We have a Linux development environment, but those systems are hobbled by a Windows-centric IT shop that has firewalls blocking access to Google from non-Windows systems and Linux-centric forums everywhere."
Why does the development environment need access to Google? Can't you google from your workstation?
Same deal with Linux centric forums. Are they specifically blocking Google and those forums from the development environment? Or is it that they are they blocking ALL web access from the development environment which makes more sense than you Windows bashing post.
The software you write is nothing more than instructions for machines to execute. Comparing it to living breathing people is a joke.
Were you serious when you wrote this line, "To me, the whole "BSD is more free because it allows anybody to do anything with your code" is akin to "Country Xyzpdq is more free because it allows anybody to do anything with anybody". That argument falls short pretty quickly when people start going around taking your stuff or killing your friends or family. BSD license = ANARCHY!!!!!!!!!!
Something like this happened at my work. An application required Domain Admin rights for its service account. When the vendor was pressed as to why they needed full read/write access rights to AD (schema changes, value changes, etc.) they also couldn't explain why. Their answer was that their install documentation said so.
When their SE was onsite to do the install I asked him again why his company's application needed Domain Admin rights he was able to give one reason. During the install the application did a one-time user account lookup on AD and then inserted the results into a SQL DB.
Thanks to AD's openess, any Domain User account can get that information. He was willing to try the install the application and test it as a Domain User and it ended up running fine.
Probably what happened with the application and probably what happened to the application you are running is that the devs have Domain Admin access on their dev environments and that ended up turning into a requirement as the application moved to QA and then to the customers. It was probably never tested with Domain User or no access to AD.
I recommend testing the application with less access and see if it still works.
The basic rules of D&D are simple. It is how they tack on rules to compensate for the simplicity like saving throws and the ability to spot secret doors on a special d6 roll for example, that end up making it not as good as some games.
Having said that and basically agreeing to what you said, here is my list:
1. Marvel Superheroes.
2. GURPS.
3. Anything from Chaosism's classic games (Runequest, Call of Cthulhu, Superworld, etc.) Yes it was like D&D but the skill system made it work.
I hope you can back up your facts. I am Canadian and I've never had a problem with medical care. A lot of your facts sound like FUD.
Fact 1: I have never had a problem seeing a Doctor. If I call up my family doctor in the morning I can see him that day. Large cities have free walk in clinics that cost nothing (except taxes of course).
Fact 2: GPA? I've never seen the term used in Canada. At least not in Ontario. Either way I want it to be hard to become a Doctor, not easy.
Fact 3: Would you prefer that immigration just rubber stamp anyone who says they are a Doctor when they enter the country?
What a load of BS. Where is rape accepted as matter-of-fact in Canadian jails? I am not saying it doesn't happen but it certainly isn't accepted.
Most Canadian jails are hotels compared to the US.
And what is wrong is wrong using a bit of humour in commercials. It does a good job of getting the message across even if it is making lite of a terrible thing.

Try doing some research on the two weapons and the goals each tried to accomplish. The AK-47 owes almost everything to it.
The AK-47 was a knock off of the Sturmgewehr 44 Wiki link
I wish I could agree with you. It seems like technological advances hit an apex and has been sliding downhill since then.
Going to moon. Haven't been back since. Forget Mars.
Supersonic air travel. Ended with the Concorde.

I second that more information is needed.
Is it a BIND/AD mix again, BIND only, AD only or something different?
If he is only running two DNS servers than your "what I run in my parent's basement" solution might work.
Kidding aside, what are you servicing with that setup?

You can still use the USB stick to store other things.
"isn't this a case of Microsoft has not had a real OS refresh in years" No it isn't. Windows 2003 was released two years ago.

I don't see how your quote applies to the quoted text. Could you explain?
I am using an ATI 9800 Pro on Windows 2000 and I have dual head support.
To answer the parent, the only reason I have found to use XP instead of 2000 is for Cleartype font display.
It has to be mentioned. There will be a 100+ open source solutions proposed but none will come close to either of the two.
They want their joke back.
He also mentioned Consulting and Networking.
Doing maintenance could also be a high paying job if you are in a Project Manager or Account Rep role.
Will do Dr. Banner. The jeep is over there to take you back to the base.
That is a lot o p0rn!!!

Rice Fanboy.
Ahhhhhhhhhh.........Linux FUD.
Yes. MS would do it because they are so evil. Does Winamp even run on Linux?
If not, why would MS attack a Window app?
