How will the RIAA react to this, seeing as this is legitimizing one of the oldest forms of music pirating?
Uhhh... how does this legitimize music pirating? You're paying for a legally recorded copy of the show you just saw. It's not like there's some guy in the crowd with a tape deck, selling bootlegged copies on the street afterwards... this is approved by the band/record companies/whoever else may be in charge. So just how does this legitimize piracy?
That was the scripted quote, but the actual film is a bit different. Winston says his line after Egon's forty years line, and Peter says human sacrifice instead of riots in the streets. I read the original script, and they ad-libbed a LOT in that movie.
MPEG-1, especially with VCD's frame size and bitrate, is EXTREMELY lossy. even mpeg-2, with dvd standards, is pretty lossy. but wasn't the point of this article backing up data? in which case, mpeg has nothing to do with it.
go to radio shack and pick up a pair of headphone extension cords... one for the speaker plug on the headset, one for the microphone. shouldn't cost you more than $15.
There are CVT's that can survive in high-power applications. A race-prepped Nissan Skyline recently was tested with an "8-speed" CVT with preset gear ratios on the pulleys. For people who don't know cars (many of the people that read this site.), Nissan Skylines are probably the best sports car in Japan and are widely known for their great handling from 4-wheel steering and full-time all wheel drive, and the bulletproof drivetrain.
But if your "speed" is capped, then you can't download as much per day, week, month, whatever. Because if you download 24-7 at full speed, let's say in my case about 1.5 megabits per second, you get a LOT more data than someone downloading at say 500 kilobits per second. So yes, the amount you can download is technically capped because of the speed cap.
And isn't this why they cap our bandwidth? If it was really costing them so much damn money, they'd either charge us by the MB, or give us slower caps on our modems. Instead, they're just shutting off anyone who does it, instead of changing their system to work better. When you combine greed and laziness, it's incredible what companies will do to their loyal customers.
We're paying them for our connection. Why do they care what we do with it after that? They've already got their money. And if you're like the majority of cable modem subscribers, you're capped anyway, so it's not like you're using more bandwidth than you're paying for, regardless of how many people you have sharing it at any given time.
The problem is that he wouldn't be able to ask slashdot if he just bought the damn thing.
It won't, but this is Slashdot so it doesn't really matter.

Or, get everyone to degauss at the same time, and watch the place explode.

no.
and is there open source software that will allow me to collect free money using linux?
...but you forgot to ask if there's an open-source alternative to ass wiping.
Admit it, the only reason you went as Nick Burns is because you didn't have to dress up for it anyway.
where's my microsoft-run micro-satellite? oh, it bsod'ed when we were trying to launch it? figures.
I thought this story had to do with up-skirt cams...

Pain stimulators? i'm waiting for pleasure stimulators. Then my porn collection would be SO much more enjoyable.
ever tried un-checking "automatically check for updates" in your preferences?
...where can I get my hands on a copy of this game?
because then you wouldn't be able to get your story posted on slashdot.
i don't know man... have you ever heard of a company called america online?
I'm not surprised. After all, he DID invent the internet, so this whole "comment tag" concept must be pretty clear to him.
