Just to let you know, Intel never made a 386 DX 40. Only AMD did. There were some technical difficulties running the bus at 40 mhz at the time, so it wasn't a perfect system. I also ran an AMD 386 DX 40. I personally didn't have any trouble though.
I think this is the major answer to the poster's question. It looks like a few weeks IBM released a PocketPC version of ViaVoice. It sounds sweet, but it is only available for the iPaq. No mention of the SNR. Maybe someday they will make an adapter? Of course, iPaq's don'y have CompactFlash slots...
Even 256 megs is way too much. I last ran voice dictation using the Voicetype dictation that came with OS/2 v4.0. That was 1996. At the time, I had a pentium 100 with 32 megs of ram. The whole voicetype install took up perhaps 80 megs. At the time I was using a 340 meg hard drive as my main boot drive, and a gig drive for storage.
I imagine a 400mhz Xscale has the same processing power as a Pentium 100. 64 megs of ram is common... Who knows.
Of course, my Casio E150 can barely run Pocket IE and play mp3z at the same time. But that is a 150mhz MIPS processor.
Many, many companies have been driven into the ground by lawsuits. The merit of those civil actions is irrelevant. The simple fact is we, as a people need those vaccines. Somebody has to pay for it. In order to make it profitable for these vaccines to be made, it is necessary to eliminate the risk of loss due to civil damages.
This is also the argument for limiting awards against doctors. We need doctors. The problem is in many localities doctors cannot afford to purchase liability insurances. Rather than risk losing everything they own, they simply don't practice there. The end result is predictable: certain localities lack doctors who specialize in high risk procedures.
In many ways, it is one small step towards universal tort reform. I am quite certain most Republicans would prefer to cap all civil actions.
Ridiculous ranting eh? You haven't seen anything yet you sanctimonious prick. The fun has just begun. Feel free to correct my spelling whenever your little heart desires.
"have a nice day"
PS: opium, heroin, morphine, glutomorphine from wheat, none of it causes heart disease or cancer. I think you need to read a little more about medicine. I mean, wouldn't want you to be too freaked out about the shit you eat.
Thanks for the spelling corrections, fuckwad. As is typical of those who have little to offer, bullshit is the method of choice for argument. Have you ever even read the book you ignorant tool? I didn't think so. You just think I am making up this bullshit about republicans? Why don't you don't you read the book.
Also, thanks for posting some rather pointless quotes, certaintly nothing from a respectable medical journal. For those who might read something from this twit, I will post a couple of journal citations from the National Library of Medicine University of Sunderland. You are a goddamn british fuck, and you are commenting to me about politics?
As a side note, wheat opioid peptides are called opioid peptides because they bind to the same opioid receptors in the brain as all naturally occuring opiates, such as morphine. Any simple medical guide, including a nurse's pharmaceutical reference will make it quite clear that opioids ultimately kill you by suppressing your respiratory system to the point of failure. Note, thats what happens when someone dies of asthma (duhhh!). If you read the Merck Manul, a common medical reference, you will find one of the chief side effects of long term narcotic pain management is respiratory suppression manifested as asthma. But seriously, how the fuck can you claim to know anything about this subject when you didn't even know this. Seriously, why the fuck do you think so many plants have opioid peptides in them, to get us high? They kill things, especially bugs. Hey, since your british, why don't you drink down a couple bottles of codeine cough syrup and tell me how you feel. I don't think you will be breathing too well.

Fast Food Nation has some interesting points, but most of it is tainted with typical leftist vitriol. It was almost HILLARIOUS how often that book portrayed the Republican Party as the source of this evil crisis of fast food hell.
It was really sad because the book makes valid points, but this tired old theme that democrats have used for fifty years, that they are protecting us poor slobs from the evil republicans is just stupid. Outside of old folks from the Depression era and stupid kids brainwashed by their teachers, no one buys that democrat rhetoric anymore.
The book also doesn't mention AT ALL about how addictive opiod-peptides(wheat glutan) and beta-carbolides are added to foods, and how this is the #1 reason for over eating and most importantly asthma. There is an entire industry of creating substances that cause an addictive craving but only cause minor mood altering effects. Thus, while adding pure morphine to foods would definitely make them addictive, adding opiod peptides that are barely euphoric means no one will really notice. They just write off the constipation and asthma to some other bullshit.
Definitely true, but do you see Microsoft pushing dial-up MSN anymore? I haven't since Windows 95 came bundled with it (Not that I have really been paying attention) MSN Broadband is probably just as important to the future of Microsoft as the Xbox. Why not make them interdependent?
I seem to recall TNG episodes referring to how the Romulans originally gave the Klingons technology... This may have been the cloaking device specifically, I don't recall.
These are myths perpetuated by the media. Women's Suffrage? This is an interesting story. Which party passed the Fifteenth Amendment to the constitution prohibiting the descrimination of voting by race? Republicans. This amendment was passed in the aftermath of the civil war, so no democrats were in congress to challenge it. Women's Suffrage was fairly bi-partison, and was not considered a major issue prior to the World War One era. Most states allowed voting by women, but many did not. What I can say is that at no time did the Republican Party advocate that WOMEN not possess the right to vote. It just did not happen. Get your facts straight as I said.
The Civil Rights crap you mention? At what point did the Republican Party CEASE being the party to advocate the Abolition of Slavery. No other party in the 19th century advocated abolition. Since you are so knowledgable about the history of political parties, you tell ME when that transition took place. I can tell you the Democrats in the major cities NEVER wanted to ban Housing Covenants, which did far more to ghettoize Negroes than any trivial segregation law in the south.
Prostitution? Gee, the only state in the nation to have legalized prostitution is Nevada. Republican country.
Gambling? Once again, Nevada.
Censorship of TV? Talk to Joe Liberman on that one. Both parties are up in arms over violence and sexuality in TV. Do I agree with it? No, but Joe Lieberman, Democrat, is chief of that fight.
Drugs? Yeah, like any party other than the Libertarian party supports legalizing drugs. But, as I said, WHICH party made drugs illegal in the first place? Democrats. I will give you a hint. The last time we had a Republican Congress and President, prior to the 1950's that is with that brief Eisenhower stint, Heroin was legal, cocaine was legal, everything was legal. Democrats passed the Harrison Narcotics Act of 1918 just a year before alcohol prohibtion.
Amphetamine used to be legal, over the counter until the same Democrat Congress that instituted Medicare made it a Schedule II drug with the Controlled Substances Act of 1970. LSD was a legal substance before tha as well. Even today, Dexadrine, the famouse over the counter weight loss aid, is the primary brand of Dextroamphetamine. Except, now it is Schedule II.
You may have this twisted idea that Democrats are all these weed smoking hippies, but when it comes to legislation, they are the ones that made everything illegal. Marijuana, btw has never been banned by congressional legislation, but thats another story.
Abortion This is true. But, more and more prominent Republicans are advocating an official change to the party line.
Polygamy?? Jesus. Come on. Do you think anyone gives a shit about this anymore? However, which state REALLY turns a blind eye to Polygamy laws? Utah. What party overwhelming exists there.
And finally, if you honestly think this nation is BETTER off that we have 12 years of forced schooling, you need to learn a little history son. If you think those schools were put in place for any other reason than to turn you into a drone to work in a factory... Well, no wonder you believe everything you learned in school and see on TV. School brain washes you into believing this shit, and makes you too stupid to challenge anything. Why do you think democrats vehemently oppose any school vouchers? Why do all public school teachers vote democrat? Because school is their number one means of control.
Honestly, how is it at possible for Republicans to have done anything of any meaningful value in this nation in the 20th century? They controlled congress and the presidency for two years between 1952 and 1954, but not a single other time since the 1890s!!! What could they have done? For you to suggest republicans had an power in the 20th century is absolutely insane.
Read stories from the 19th century, read newspapers, walk around 19th century neigboorhoods like the one I live in here in Brooklyn. The nation was far more wonderful 100 years ago than today. Homes were built of stone, with some artistic design behind them. Parks were built for everyone to enjoy. 98% of Americans could read. Best selling books would sell to a quarter of the population. (David Copperfield sold something like 20 million copies, over 25% of the US population at the time)
Prostitution was legal throughout the country, cocaine and opiates were plentiful and sold on every street corner. The vast majority of americans had an independent livelihood, either owning their own business, shop, or farm.
Think about that. The legacy of the 20th century for democrats is over 10 million killed in war. Our cities are crumbling. Fewer than 10% of our people are independent. The rest are wage slaves. We have college graduates who are unable to read anything of any intellectual value. In all the ways that matter, people are more stupid, less wealthy, and more dependent than ever before. Whatever the democrats did in the 20th century, they did NOT help "the little guy".
The Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890, a law passed by congress, specifically outlaws intentional monopolizing of the market. The law itself is somewhat vague, but caselaw, specially with Standard Oil, establishes quite clearly that price dumping is illegal.
I am not saying whether or not the law is JUST. I also am not convinced it is WRONG for a company to lose money. Even in this case, it is difficult to prove Microsoft is losing money with the intention of driving competitors out of business. It was easy to prove with Standard Oil because they would floor their prices in one region, until all the local oil suppliers went out of business and then Standard Oil would by the assets of those companies. With microsoft, they haven't driven anyone out of business yet.
However, as a longtime OS/2 user from 1992-1998, I can say I was rooting the DOJ to ram a hot rod up Bill's arse the entire time. So, perhaps I am a little biased...
I am a libertarian, and I vote libertarian frequently, except when there is a good chance that a Republican will win.
I have to say that before this, the Republican party has never done anything to abridge our freedoms in this country. The democratic party exists to control. You think high taxes, social security, public housing, public education, and every other social program in this is a good thing, but it is no different that a prisoner getting free room and board, along with the access to an Associates Degree.
Who instituted the FBI, the IRS, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Alcohol Prohibition, The Harrison Narcotics Act, the income tax, social security, the Department of Education... The list goes on. Not a single right has ever been taken away by Republicans, except perhaps the right to own slaves.
Wars. The only war started by Republicans besides the Gulf war was the Civil War. From the Spanish American War with Roosevelt, to the world wars, Korea, Vietnam.. Millions of americans lost their lives in the 20th century for democratic wars. The Republican Party was Isolationist until 1950, and always advocated massive nuclear retaliation, but never sacrificed our men for politics.
Why are Rockefellers, Carnegies, and Kennedys democrats? Because from the very beginning, 100 years ago, the democratic party seized control of this nation by forcing the masses into public schools to brain wash them with propoganda, institute oppressive taxation that would destroy the little guy and and make them dependent on the government, and conveniently give him free housing and food. Open your eyes, this so-called invasion of privacy is nothing compared to what you lose in this slave/master economy we have today.
One hundred years ago, when the Republican Party was still strong after the civil war, the vast majority of Americans had an independent livelihood. It was this the Big Industrialists sought to prevent. You are forced to live 18 years of life as a ward of state, learning shit you don't need to learn while you are turned into a docile fool submissive to authority and all you do is crave novelty. Then you are forced to indebt yourself for decades to go to college to learn more worthless shit. Then when you do get a job, conveniently given to you by the big business in this country owned by rich democrats, you are ready to live the good life paying off those student loans and buying useless shit made by the big businesses. Then when you get old, after wasting your entire life as a slave, you are given just enough to get a room in an SRO and hang ou in McDonalds every day.
Homeland security is a MICROSCOPIC issue compared to the social welfare and educational industries in this nation.
I believe in absolute freedom, just anarchy with a local police force. No homeland security, no welfare, no public schools, nothing. I want to use my life like I see fit. Don't sit there and think Republicans are the enemy. I don't like this Homeland Security bill anymore than anyone else, but to suggest Republicans have a history of depriving people of rights is insane. Democrats are and always have been evil, twisted, powermongering fools.
For the first time in over 50 years, we are free of the Democrat menace. We are one step closer to the freedom that was stolen from us 100 years ago. Think first. Don't just listen to the doublespeak of the media. Think of the freedom that used to exist, look at who was president in wars of the past, who controlled congress when declarations of war were signed... It was never republicans. You will never know freedom if you are ignorant of the past.
That is a fantastic idea... The reality is for most people a filter that only allows addresses found on a certain list is more than adequate. But we all lose the occasional email from someone we have lost contact with or who has changed their email without asking us. That is such a simple way around those few instances where you get an email from someone you don't already know.
You would only have to build a dike up to perhaps 125th street. Washington Heights is far higher up than most people realize (something like 750 feet above sea level at the highest level). Go to the Cloisters someday, or drive over the George Washington Bridge during rush hour so you can see some distance...
I would estimate that you would only have to damn up about 18-20 square miles of the island, which wouldn't really be that difficult. Of course, by then Manhattan will be a solid fortress for the wealthy. Maybe they will damn the Bronx so their servants have someplace to live. Fuck the other boroughs.
This is absolutely true. As the early european explorers found, compasses are great when you are sailing within site of land, but a sextant is far more important than a compass when travelling the open sea. The poles may change, but the stars won't. I have the strange idea in my head that modern US naval vessels have devices which position the ship by observing the stars. This is something of a redundancy in the event a GPS signal is blocked, or the satellites themselves are compromised.
Lets not forget the north star.
Compasses are highly useful, but there are many alternatives, especially with modern technology.
The radiation is not cosmic in origin, but solar. O3 molecules are extremely unstable, and as a result it is their destruction that protects us from solar radiation. The radiation that would typically go into your skin causing the molecular structure of your cells to degrade instead destroys ozone. The reality is that ozone is so unstable it exists for a very short period of time anyway. Yes, ozone is created when other forms of radiation have fun with oxygen, like internal combustion engines. But, beacuse ozone doesn't last very long, people can still live in places like Los Angeles. Sadly, ozone is quite toxic as your red blood cells never really evolved to work with anything but O2.
The ozone "hole" doesn't really exist year round, it only exists at the poles because our planets orbitol axis is not parallell with the suns, thus the poles receive little energy from the sun at certain times of the year (umm, thats winter) So, with no direct radiation from the sun, ozone is not created and a hole appears. The ozone returns in the summer.
However, I would hypothesize that because the magnetic field disrupts some radiation from the sun, more radiation would impact with the upper atmosphere resulting in more ozone.
The climate of fear was created by then fact the first half of the last century was an endless war. It was part of this reason that America focused intensely on having an invincible army AND in helping other nations. No nation in the history of mankind has spent as much of its GDP on helping foreign nations. The USA has virtually maintained the United Nations from collapse.
Note, I don't agree with any of that. If it was up to me, the US would never have entered WWI or WWII, we would never spend a dime for any foreign nation, and we would not have a standing army. Even though I believe that I realize that you are probably a socialist because you believe the US was trying to be the toughest MF on the block. That said, the socialist goal of aiding the poor was fullfilled admirably by the altruistic fuckwads who ran the country for most of the twentieth century. For you to suggest otherwise in a socialistic orgy of lies, is irresponsible.
This revolutionary impulse, to erase or ignore everything that came before, is generally the mark of something so unpractical that that is the only way it would gain acceptance.
Of course, it is the democrats who instituted and completely support the propganda tool that is the forced schooling establishment.
not only that, it was the democrats who typically used this tactic. From Roosevelt I with the Maine in 1898, to the bullshit reasoning to enter WWI, or prohibition, or the income tax, forced schooling, Roosevelt II with pearl harbor, Kennedy with the cuban missle crisis, Johnson with vietnam... The list goes on. Republicans have never adopted deceit as their technique. Democrats have perfected it to a fine art.
There is a reason all captains of industry, and rich people in general support the democratic party. The entire party is a fraud intended to create a class system in this nation, to keep everyone but the powerful stuck where they are. The Kennedys, carnegies, rockafellers, etc they sat around and conspired how to turn a nation of indepedent, freedom loving people into mindless drones, hopelessly dependent on their beneficiaries for their life.
Only fools believe the democrats stand for anything other than preventing the masses of this country from ever taking back the country that is rightfully ours. Bush is no saint, but he is playing by the same rules democrats have for nearly a hundred years. In the end it doesn't matter. The corporate fascist state created by the democrats is crumbling. No one believes in any public services. Everyone knows the fief system of government bureauocracy is criminal. The game is up. Only the elderly and people of schooling age believe in democrats. Give an indoctrinated student 5 years of living in the real world, and he will realize all his teachers were full of shit.
No matter how you slice it these bozo's broke their user agreement, illegally modified regulated communications hardware, stole service, and attempted to defraud the other users on the system. Play fair, or don't play.
Under no circumstances is it ever ILLEGAL to break an agreement. If you decide one day to stop paying your credit card, do you think the bank is going to sequester a grand jury to indict you for... breaking you agreement to pay your minimum monthly balance?
What if you decide one day to stop paying the lease payments for your apartment? Will you go to jail then? Or your car?
This is fundamentally the difference between civil cases and criminal cases. We have civil courts in place to deal with matters of contract dispute.
Think about it. Contracts are ALWAYS ambiguous. These guys can argue so many ways around whatever contract to which they agreed its not even funny. And remember, this isn't a REAL contract we are talking about here. Do you think those people signed anything or did anything to show they acknowledged any contractual obligation on their behalf to do ANYTHING for the ISP? Have you ever signed anything for an ISP?
I would have no problems with the ISP suing the folks here to recover the difference between what they were capped at and what they used. But to suggest SOCIETY should pay $30,000 a year to incarcarate someone for costing an ISP $100 more in a month... Its insane, absolutely insane.

Lets not forget Tank Girl. McDowell was over the top in that movie. It was great.
Very simple.

No, but some european countries like France get virtually all their electricity from nuclear power, which is the cleanest source of energy around.
Marijuana - the classic
The Poppy - heroin, morphine, opium... God's own medicine
Coca - cocaine. Nature's best stimulant
Just think of how boring civilization would be if it was not for these three mind alterning substances.
PS: Yes, so the heroin has some acetic acid, but you could conceivably get that from fermenting some fruit...

Jesus.
Losing money IS a crime.
Someone needs to add this to Mozilla
0xdeadbeef's razor.
More wisdom from the genius that is 0xdeadbeef.
