Just kidding Rob. It's just that, I don't think you did a geeks in space episode where you didn't talk about Tivo :)

  9. BSD? Linux? Whats goin on, guys? on Magnetic Space Launches · · Score: -1, Flamebait

    Hey, fellas

I've been using Windows for about 30 years. Someone told me that Linus should be shot because BSD is 31337. Linux is lame, they in my #redhat IRC channel told me. But then, I went to #mandrake linux IRC channel on irc.ecreethax0r.org and they said that BSD was for Windows hating layuhs.

    Can anyone shed some light

  10. Linux users born in the 1980's ... a complaint? on Perception of Linux Among IT Undergrads · · Score: 0

My younger brother pointed out to me that a lot of people on this board were bitching about how kids born in the 1980's were idiots because they only know of the Microsoft world. The world that began to dominate in the late 1980's. Planet Microsoft.

I was born in 1980. Vaguely, I can remember using "Apple" 's in Elementry school. We played on spelling games and stuff. In middle school it was Microsoft, Windows 3.x - "it's so pretty!"

My freshman year in high school I put Windows 95 on my PC at home. I had used DOS on that computers for years. After about 2 years of Win95, I was ready to throw my paper weight computer off of a cliff.

I started looking for a solution to the BSOD issue at hand. Everytime I got on mIRC someone WinNuked me. "hax0rs".

In 1996, my younger brother got Debian from an ebay auction for like $3. We had a pretty new computer at the time and as beginners, Debian wasn't the way to go. We tried for a while and gave up as we didnt know anything about Linux or how to get help. On the CD, written with a sharpy, "Debian".

About 6 months later, I bought a copy of Redhat from walmart. My brother laughed as I tried putting it on my computer. We were both ammused when... "holy shit, it works". We put it on his computer next.

We've been using non-dual-booting PC's with linux for about 4 years now.

So, listen - we were raised on Microsoft and Apple's, show us the solution and we will bit at the hook. Don't judge, teach.

  12. Another soon to be victum of the music industry on Ethernet MP3 Player · · Score: 1

Yeah, that's a really great idea. The guys at Slim Devices are really on to something that could totally be revolutionary. Too bad these music nazi's in the music industry will never let you have the actual songs to use the new technology provided by Slim Devices.

    How nice.
