This idea that China is a super-villain and the US is a superhero is based off of myth, nationalism and ignorance, we are no better than the Chinese.

May I suggest that this belief that there are significant people who believe in your hyperbolized dichotomy is also a myth. I'm confident the majority of people in the US see it as a flawed country but on the whole comparatively better than most.

The correct stance to take is of course that Assange is innocent with regard to rape/molestation until conclusive evidence to the contrary is provided. Likewise, the USA is innocent with regard to whatever crime is implied by the story tags (currently: flaseflag, blackflag) until conclusive evidence to the contrary is provided. My condolences to the Gorbez tribe for whatever violence that may (or may already have) come their way from the Taliban. While I doubt it was their intention to aid the US special forces in any way -- probably wanted to be left alone by all sides and were just cooperating to avoid any trouble and to get the strangers with guns to leave asap -- the fact that they communicated peacefully with US forces is likely enough justification for retribution in the eyes of the Taliban.
