I don't like this, and I don't use Office 365 for this exact reason. Software as a service makes no sense at all for individuals. For corporations, sure. RENTING shit is generally a fucking waste of money. At the end of the day, you have nothing.

For values of "performance" that don't mean "the absolute best" perhaps.

For AAA gaming, I don't give a shit if there's ANY open source support. I stopped dicking around with trying to get the games I want to play working on Linux YEARS ago.

I'm not going to eat carob instead of chocolate just to make a point that manufacturers and publishers won't even notice is being made.

Taxis are artificially expensive, and generally as slow as they want to be. Particularly when legislation has driven competition out and they have no reason to be timely or reasonably priced.

Myself, I don't trust taxis, because the last time I did, I waited an hour for one at 2 AM, and when the one assigned to me showed up on tracking in the parking lot, it passed me by to pick up a bigger fare. The app then said that I had been picked up. When I tried to get another cab, the dispatcher called me, cursed me out, said it wasn't my cab and to keep waiting. After a SECOND hour of waiting, I had no alternative but to walk 2.5 miles home at 4 AM in shoes not suitable for walking in. I am now permanently disabled due to this walk aggravating a tissue disorder in my foot where the connective tissue holding my bones in place was not formed right. I wish I had documented this and sued the fuck out of the taxi company, but it was another 18 months before I really understood the extent or nature of my injury (I didn't know about the tissue disorder).

I've never waited more than 7 minutes for an uber or lyft, and that's only if they got delayed by a train or drawbridge.

Guess who I trust and who I don't?

I don't think you understand what "MMO"s are.

This isn't a case of people not being able to play single player games. Not even a case of people not being able to play something that could be reasonably hosted by individuals, such as Quake ][.

Multiplayer games do have a huge audience for which much of the appeal lies in the service having huge numbers of other players. I don't play any of them anymore, but I can see how this could be a problem for a large number of people.

  20. That claim is horseshit. the app doesn't even allow tipping. you have to tip the driver cash.

  21. The small city where you apparently drive a cab is not indicitive of most locations. Uber provides ME with lower prices and immediately available drivers. Yellow Cab abused its position, and they're paying the price. It's a shame that short sighted local governments are accepting bribes and trying to shore up prices.
