So this can't be used by my minions to construct a dimensionally transcendental vehicle for passing through Time And Relative Dimensions In Space and disguise it as a retro-looking Police Box from England?
Damn.
Thanks for the explaination, by the way. I had some idea of the physical behaviors being described, but I had not reached the point of being able to surmise applications for it. very interesting indeed.
If Microsoft wants to combat that attitude, they're better off quietly tightening the screws on those hardware manufacturers who tell users to blow off the "unsigned driver" warning.
Or perhaps they should be off speeding up the driver review process so that it occurs in a reasonable amount of time. Waiving some of the fee might help too...
I'm curious, how does Cygwin differ from what you describe? obviously Microsoft didn't develop it, but it appears to my eye to be a "Unix Subsystem".
I really do want to know what Cygwin is lacking, if anything. I use it for my test automation at work so as to be able to run BASH on all systems, and as an X client, but I'm not real clear on its limitations.
Yea, I know, I saw the ad attached to the Farscape Finale. I was kind of happy to see a remake of the old series. I will STILL steal it off USENET before I'll watch it on SciFi, given what they've done.
Actually Ep 22 would have been a great finale, if it wasn't for the cliffhanger element that entered in the last 2 minutes that I won't mention here. If they had left it with Crichton and Aryn kissing on the boat after the proposal, I'd buy it as a finale. As it is, the whole thing stinks to me like a publicity stunt.
Agreed. I tolerated SG-1 as a guilty pleasure up until tonight. Now it's on the list of unholies, along with all the other tripe that SciFi thinks it can force on us.
No, the ratings system hasn't been updated in recent memory. Arbitron is STILL sending out those manual "write in this book" kits. I've done this twice now in the last 10 years. I know in some markets they're a little more advanced, but not here.
I'm not watching shit on that network now. No Tremors (not that I'd watch that garbage anyhow), no Dune: The next Generation, no BattlestarGalactica, Nothing. Fuck them sideways with a bandsaw (yes that's my personal catch phrase). I've Locked Out SciFi channel on my cable box. noone who even visits my house can flip to that channel by ACCIDENT even.
UPN might not exist in the next year. FOX is trying to extract its affiliates from the commitments they made. Enterprise will probably wind up in Syndication. I'm afraid UPN is not a good haven for Farscape. Whoever WGN is getting Andromeda from might be, though.
I miss LEXX too. I won't be watching anything associated with SciFi channel or USA for the forseeable future. That was a really cool Battlestar Galactica ad they ran tonight. I care FUCK ALL for that now. I'll fucking steal the series off USENET before I'll give SciFi/USA my ad-watching viewership.
I hope you're right. I hadn't considered that they might be smart enough to realize that us early adopters are their best bet to buy an HD product (providing its not crippled by excessive DRM).
Mine's a 2020 as well, 100 GB drive here.:)
I'm a bit jaded by the manufacturers who try to weasel out of commitments whenever possible.
I also got screwed out of about 3 grand by HomeLife when they went Chapter 11 without delivering my furniature (could have been worse, I did get 2 grand back...) so Chapter 11 is not a phrase I react charitably to.
True for the older units, like mine, but not for the newer ones.
I'm pretty sure the company that's buying Replay, D&M holdings will use this opportunity to invalidate the lifetime subscriptions for the older players, in an attempt to either force us to buy new units, or cough up subscription fees.
That's actually an excellent point regarding the immediate result of reconstruction. I would point out, however, that there ARE many countrys who do just fine with a multitude of ethnic groups. DOne right, the upcoming Iraqi government might just do the job and bring a great thing to the region.

Did you do that translation to Latin yourself? impressive. I haven't had High School Latin in over 16 years, but I remember enough to know that's very very good, and in time with the song too. Nice.

Get OVER it already. That's how the Electoral process works. If you don't like it, try within the system set down by the Constitution to get it changed, but try to accept reality and support your country now, please.

Agreed,
The Office of the President of the United States of America merits respect, whatever an individual's opinion of the holder of that office might be. Michael Moore can fuck himself sideways with a bandsaw. after that first statement, I wrote off anything he said or will say.
I didn't LIKE Clinton, but I was as harsh to the people that tried to tear him down WHEN HE WAS IN OFFICE as I will be to Bush bashers now. Save it for the fucking election, people. NOTHING you do between now and then will do anything but erode the respect others have for you, or in the extreme cases like the moron with the tractor in DC this week, get you thrown in federal prison.
Common sense. It's a lost skill, and one Michael Moore has taken leave of.
Ah, but if they drop PS1 compatibility they get to sell you those "classics" all over again. (assuming you didn't keep your PS or PS2).
At least thats the reasoning I could see behind dropping it.
Probably won't need HW compatibility anyhow. If Cell is everything it's supposed to be, they could put a software emulator on disk with the CD images for the "classics" when they repackage and sell them again.
I don't find holding people responsible for their ethical choices at all unfair, to be perfectly honest. If they know what kind of business they're working for, and they haven't spoken out, well... "I was just following orders" isn't really a proven defense...
Thanks for the hint regarding hull sizes. I had sort of sussed that, but I've only run through a couple games so far.
I'll play with economic settings and the like a bit more this time through. I wanted to get a feel for the "baseline" behavior of the management AI and how much sheparding it needs.
Try to install on the same generic platform we test other Intel Unices on.
Discover that even Solaris/Intel detects hardware better.
Hunt around for hardware on the "supported" list.
Finally get a working system.
Perform testing.
Repeat the whole thing next time we actually need to test on SCO, because the original test hardware has been repurposed or retired (no reason to keep a SCO installation intact after testing. there's generally 12-18 months between times we need it)
That's the only Intel Unix we had problems with.
We'll probably look at it agian if a customer asks us too, but I'm not expecting one to, to be honest.

Thanks for the info. Now that you mention it, I remember some of that, just forgot most of the details.

" But... what about Battlestar Galactia? Looks worth waiting for. Dune series? I actually liked it."
What about them? if I watch them, I'll get them off Usenet, so it won't benefit USA/SciFi one fucking bit. I doubt I'll bother though. Tainted goods.

The Girl Scouts of America are entering the Homeland Security field? Who will sell the cookies?
The entire purpose of the SCOSource division is this kind of chicanery. I'd be willing to settle for their wholesale dismissal. Particularly McBride.

Well the hardware problems were basically
Get license for SCO Intel.
Try to install on the same generic platform we test other Intel Unices on.
Discover that even Solaris/Intel detects hardware better.
Hunt around for hardware on the "supported" list.
