    Many of the founding fathers had degrees from seminaries and were religeous.. I dare say Christian. So to say our founding fathers weren't Christian, is inaccurate. 27 had seminary degrees.

    I guess reading the Declaration of Independence is unconstitutional too since it has references to God in it.
    Here's the first part of it:
    When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

    I had an interview with a consulting company. After a 30 minute chit-chat style interview, they gave me a paragraph with a problem. I was to pseudo code an answer to it. For me, that was one of the better interview questions I've received. Afterwards they gave me a copy of the answer. I pretty much got it right. I didn't get the job mostly because I was just out of school, and they needed experience.

    I don't want my tax dollars should be used to help someone who doesn't have their own access to the internet to view this stuff. If they want to look at it, let them get their own access. I don't want to pay my hard earned dollars for them to view filth.

    The porn people have freedom of speech. No one is preventing them from doing this, and no one is prevented from looking at it. They just need to get their own access to view it.

    The wholesale company I work for used SCO Unix for 12 years. Our customers would dial into it with our windows software to order product. The last few years was a real pain in the butt. SCO Unix didn't have many device drivers, was hard to install even with the recommended hardware, and crashed too often.
    Four years ago when I started working for the company, I recommended Linux. My boss didn't want to use it because at the time there were no companies that had decent support. Last year we finally switched to Red Hat. They have decent support. The only big problem with RH is being able to install from a backup tape. SCO unix had utilities for this that worked well. With Linux this is much more difficult.
    We have been more than satisfied since the switch to Red hat.
    Good Riddance to SCO. It was good at one point, but they let it fall to peices.

    They already tried using stem cells for Parkinson's disease and the first few attemps weren't very good. Short term, the patients were greatly helped, but in the long term, they developed some unexpected side effects that are as bad as the disease. They've been talking about stem cells for a Parkinson's cure for over 10 years, however after the first attempts, they're not sure how to make it a permanent fix. My Mom was diagnosed with PD 16 years ago, and we've seen many helps come and go.


    One thing about many of these new treatments using stem cells (or any other new treatment) is the side effects. They're constantly telling us of all the possible good things that come from it, but I haven't heard anyone tell the bad about it. What Are the side effects? Are they worth it for the help it might do? I'd wish they'd be more open with the good and bad, so we can make a more informed decision.

    Many people are making the claim that it's people that stead and not the software or network. That's true to an extent, however depending on the tools, the people may not steal the music/movies if they didn't have them, or at least they would do it as much.
    Whether something like this should be legal or not depends on the amount of damage done by the tools. Example: Many types of guns are legal in the United States, and many types are illegal (like some automatic machine guns). The ones that are illegal can be more dangerous and do more damage when used than some of the ones that are legal.
    That's why I agree that Kazaa and the like should be shut down, they can cause much damage to the companies that own the copyrights to the music/movie and may make it harder for them to keep producing it.

    I know of a college in Arizona that decided to move it's IBM servers and harddrive rack to their new location across campus. A friend of mine who worked there suggested they have IBM do it.Reasoning with them that it's fragile and doesn't take much to break.
    Well they didn't follow his advice. They carefull loaded and moved it. Nothing looked broken. They hooked everything up and nothing. What they didn't realize was that the hard drives needed the arms put in a parked position. They didn't know that, and the hard drives were trashed. The warranty didn't cover that type of damage.

    Apple's iPod runs a stripped version of OSX. I think it might be possible to take on of the open source ogg vorbis player, and port it to MacOS X, and then figure out a way to make it run on an iPod. If it's powerful enough to play .mp3s then it should do Ogg-vorbis

    Pornography does feed SOME people's desire to seek out sexual encounters. Ted Bundy admitted that pornography led to his serial rape/murders. Pedophilia probably works both ways, those with mental instabilities and those who look at child porn and go that way. (and I'm not saying that every one who looks at it becomes a pedophile).

    I disagree. This may protect some children from child porn, however "virtual" child porn will still feed a pedophiles sexual desire. It will make him more likely to seek some sort of sexual encounter with a child. "Virtual" child porn may protect children from being in pornography, but it won't help the ones who get molested by people who feed off of it.

    Many mentally ill people won't admit or don't know they are. Labels won't do much good, most people would play or let their kids play the game any way.

    Kent Hovind (a supporter of creation) released his creation-evolution seminar in a similar manner Robert Cringely wants too. He doesn't copyright his videos. He allows anyone to use them as they see fit. In fact, you can buy the videos, copy them and distribute them all you want. He hasn't run into any problems with this. I suppose it has even helped his cause some. He even has the seminar in real player format that you can download at www.drdino.com.

    It SEEMS to me all the groups/singers that I see being pushed by the recording companies are the Britney Sprears/ NSync types or the far out ones like Marylin Manson. Most of your average people get tired of Spears/NSync and greatly dislike the Manson types. No wonder people are buying CDs as much. They should start pushing what people want, not force us into their tastes.

    I currently do RPG programming on an AS/400. No longer is it a column oriented language when Version 5 of the OS came out, the RPG compiler allows freeform statments and other goodies which make it a lot more interesting to program in. No more columns.

    Double (or more) punched, underpunched (none for that race) is what was thrown out. How can you garantee a vote is for a paticular candidate if more than one was punched or none at all?
