I think some of you are forgetting that Linux is open source. If you want a version of Linux that has a different style of upgrading features and providing patches than what Linus does, then start your own version of Linux so you can do it the way you see fit. Isn't this one reason it's open source?
If AOL does buy out Red Hat, maybe then they'll release a version of AOL for Linux. AOL is a good nationwide ISP. They're not perfect, but you can pretty much go anywhere and have a local dialup. If your average joe user sees this, they may consider linux since they can use AOL on it. Remember AOL has 30 million subscribers. If a few of those got on linux, it would help the Linux market.
AICS or American Institute for Computer Science (or something like that) is an accredited distance learning school where you can get a BS in computers science. It offers credit for real world experience which will cut out classes you need to take. Try www.aics.edu
The local newspaper here in Springfield, IL ran an article a year or two ago about some hight school students (Springfield High School) who networked the schools computer lab to a Linux server so students could have a place to store their stuff without having to bring floppy disks. I don't know if it's still around, but the students did it all themselver including building the server and installing all of the software. The teacher that was in charge of the lab was impressed mostly because he didn't know anything about Linux and networking.
Microsoft's support is good because they have the money to do it. Where as Redhat and other Linux companies don't have the money to have a comparable support System.

I'd love to see Ed come back to play John Conner. He would be a natural for the role. It's going to be hard to replace him. They can do a lot w/makeup to make him look the part.

You might be able to hack togethor something usable.
Even though it's a telephone type system, you might be able to get enough information from it to build what you need. It has a ARM based processor running Linux. You might get some ideas from that.
When broadband first came to my area, it was cable modems to a small section of town... only a few people had the access. This year the local cable company was working on doing the whole town, but excite@home stopped taking new customers, so that'll kill new cable access. DSL has been spotty with all the companies going out of business and there's a long wait when you call for them to set up the service (Ameritech). I called and they said they would be there in 4 weeks. 8 weeks later they still hadn't installed it. I cancelled it.
Take a break. Explore hobbies other than coding. Let your coding skills sit quietly in the back of your mind
Don't let the skills sit for too long without using them. After I graduated, one HR lady for a consulting firm said programming skills put on the back burner for too long make you less interesting of a candidate.
Why should record labels be suprised that people are not interested in paying for online music? The main reason for Napster being successful was that the music was free. You could burn your own CDs. If someone has to pay for it, they might as well buy it in a useful form.
I think Palm should continue the BEIA. Find a way to port it to a Color Palm. They should add a keyboard and mouse and sell it as an internent appliance for about $200. I would buy that.
Blockbuster doesn't want to deal with returns? Not hardly. Blockbuster loves late fees. It comprises about 20 - 25% of their revenue.
I thought the funniest thing BG ever said was when he said 640K of Ram was all anyone would ever need.
