  1. Mainstream Media on Microsoft may Sanction the 'Switcher' PR-Rep · · Score: 2

I was so shocked when I heard on a local radio station in Australia about how Microsoft had been caught out "by the geeks at the slashdot.org website."

  2. Why can't anyone ignore what they don't like on Linux Backup With DVD Media? · · Score: 3, Insightful

  3. No, it's not on Los Angeles City Employees To Drive Hydrogen Power · · Score: 2

Energy can be "produced" much more efficiently at a large scale power plant than it can be in a car's engine. Car engines don't burn very hot, compared to power plants. The hotter you burn the more efficient it generally is. Also it's much easier to change the energy source at the supply point(i.e. change from coal to wind or solar) than it is to change at the vehicle. As for the steam, well to produce hydrogen you absorb water vapour from the air, use electricity to split it into hydrogen and oxygen, and then sell the hydrogen again.

  4. Heirarchy vs P2P on Ask Dr. Vinton Cerf About the Internet · · Score: 2

What do you think about the current situation on the internet, with users down the bottom and servers up the top? Do you think that the internet should be without a heirarchy so anyone can run a server with high bandwidth?

  9. P2P Mirrors? on Mandrake 9.0 (Dolphin) Is Available [updated] · · Score: 2

Has anyone got this on Gnutella or giFT or Freenet? Using these networks to distribute ISO's is a perfect thing to do emphasize how P2P can be used for more than copyright breaking. I just checked giFT and it doesn't seem to be there....

All you need to do is just confirm the MD5sum to make sure it's not been tampered with. So if you have this - please upload to a P2P network!!! :-) Thanks

Will they be able to communicate even when separate? For instance an invitation in KMail, will connect to Korganizer and put it in there? DCOP should allow that to happen.

There's no reason why those applications can't communicate, even if they aren't all in the same window.

I have to say I agree. Evolution and Outlook are horribly designed. I much prefer KMail as a powerful mail client, Kabc and Korganizer being separate, but they still are capable of working together, but not all in the same window. Evolution is horrid.

They know they are close, but they don't know how close. They know this because when the radiation from a solar flare went past each probe, they looked at the time it took to get between voyager 1 and 2. Then a short time later they heard the radio noise of the solar flare hitting the heliopause. This tells them that they aren't very far away.
