  1. Mozilla? on Netscape 6 is Spyware? · · Score: 1

The article makes no reference to Netscape 6's derivation from Mozilla. I would imagine that this practice isn't being done in Mozilla, but I wonder if the mozilla project had anything to do with making this possible, or if Netscape just did it all on their own. I'm leaning towards the latter.

I also have the CDC-MP3-2 (The second coming of AIWA's MP3 from CD-R player) I really like it. The mechanical front is really neat (no removable face to worry about). And, on top of that it displays ID3 tags and all of that. The only problem I have with it is that it plays MP3s in alphabetical order, so if you don't store your MP3s with the number of the track in them, you gotta put it there. I would recommend it though. Definitely.

I keep a journal at www.livejournal.com They distribute copies of their clients and their server under the terms of the GPL. They use mySQL in what I consider to be a very large environment. I don't have exact numbers, but it is a large (very large) site and keeping track of all of those journal entries is obviously very trying. I guess I should also share that they are having their fair share of problems keeping their hardware up to date to handle their load. Check them out!

At SUNY Stony Brook, we own sunysb.edu and stonybrook.edu. We only had sunysb.edu for a while, but they thought that was too confusing and bought up stonybrook.edu. We use mail.sunysb.edu and news.sunysb.edu. It's the way it should be. (OT) Altough we did get a $25 million grant from computer associates, and the president of the school is on the board of directors at CA. Go figure!!

Patents are not the answer. Maybe it should be illegal to steal code from any closed source algorithm. There is no way that anyone from Lycos will be given the job to crack the google server in order to steal a search algorithm. Patenting something that is not easily stealable(?) is silly. It's not like everyone who searches with google gets a glimpse at the source. There is no reason for them to patent this...

That reply displays your own ignorance and prejudice for all to see. I am glad that you have given me the oppurtunity to bring this up and maybe even start a discussion about it. I agree with the entire 'geek nation' that AOL bites it hard. But, it is not my choice to use that at home. I am 17 years old and I live at home and my father enjoys AOL for some ungodly reason. I wish I could convince him to change our ISP because we have access to a rather cheap cable connection. But, the point is that I can not and I am stuck using AOL. That does not limit my 'technical expertise' in any way. Using a certain ISP does not lower my intelligence.

I remember when those mudslides happened in California a few years back and people's houses were sliding down those massive cliffs, I couldn't stop laughing. The people would come on TV all crying saying, "Look at my house...my poor house." Why in the fuck did you build your house on the side of a cliff using pillars of wood to hold it up. Do you think that was the sturdiest house you could build? Maybe losing your house isn't worth the view that it offers. I live on Long Island and routinely, every winter we have a "nor-easter"...which is a storm that comes from the north east. These storms are fierce, and the houses built on stilts in the middle of the ocean/bay always fall down. I laugh and say the same thing...if you didn't build your house on the coast and in the middle of the water...this wouldn't have happened to you. It's your own fault...so, don't clog up my TV set with your tears because I don't want to hear it. I'll be kicking back with my feet on my otoman over here on the mainland...away from the shore and the storms.
