Or Trump doesn't f**k things up too much, they nominate Clinton in 2020 to save their good people for 2024.

#2 might actually be a decent strategy.

Agreed. I don't gave a flying f*** what "channel" my show is on. I just want to know when, which with Netflix means whenever I'm ready to watch it. Even before DVRs, I didn't have time to watch TV on their schedule. I recorded with ye olde VCR, clunky as it was compared to the DVR. And of course Netflix is even better, since there aren't any commercials to FF past.

An hour time slot is filled with 40 minutes of actual content, the remainder being commercials. There's no better painful reminder of this than Netflix. Go back and find a show from the 80s, or the 90s and note the playtime, and compare it to today.

What bugs me is, when I watch one of those old shows on MeTV, I find significant parts are cut out to make room for the commercials.

  19. The ONLY exception I can think of right now for this would be safety related. If the government needs to warn of an evacuation and can't get you by phone they should be able to leave a voicemail. I was in Boulder when a fire was heading towards the city and got an automatic call to prepare for evacuation, along with a text message, emergency alert, and other things. In that kind of situation leaving a voice mail is also okay.

If I can't be reached by phone, I probably won't see text or voicemail either. Maybe Emergency Alert, only because that will make a loud noise even if my phone is silenced. But even that would become useless if they tried to use it for non-emergencies.
