What works great in an action/adventure show like 24, doesn't neccesarily work that well in a SF show. In 24 it comes off as "intense", though I agree that one could also call it gloomy/depressing. Also, the bad guys on 24 don't have sexy broads screaming at them in their heads.:-P
A dark, gloomy, depressing show with continuity is still a dark, gloomy, depressing show. I agree that continuity is a plus, but I watch TV for fun, and there isn't much of that on the current BSG.
Enterprise is opposite Stargate SG1. Since I have DirecTivo, I can see both, but if I had to choose, Archer would get the boot. As for Galactica, it's a little too depressing for my taste.
Technically, the Cylons are still robots, even though some of them look human. But otherwise I agree. Not only does this version have Stardoe & Boomete, but the whole "feel" of the show is as far from the original Galactica as you can get.
Hey, DOS was a step above Windows 95... at least under DOS you knew it was always the apps that caused a crash, not something stupid like "being on for 42 days".
Under DOS, I knew exactly WHICH app was causing the problem (the one I'm running, of course). Under Windows, it might be any of several apps I'm running, any of their libraries, or the OS itself. Or any combination. Simplicity had it's advantages.
I'm sure that if lifespans went up to 1,000, they'd have to bump the mandatory retirement age to at least 600. They'd have trouble finding enough 60 year-olds for the job, and besides, why would anyone trust a plane to someone that young anyway?
Those of us with good jobs and good money management can get rich enough in our first century to take off a couple of decades to enjoy themselves. The rest are screwed, just as they are today with 70 year life-spans.
So far, I don't mind Atlantis similarity to Voyager, but if they introduce a sexy female Wraith named "8 of 10" who joins the Atlantis team, I'm outta there!:)
Thank you for telling me. I don't usually click on links, but since you're from Ebay/PayPal, I trust you, and will send you the information you requested.
You have to judge this show in absolute terms, or against other sci fi shows. You cannot judge it against its own other seasons, because that's setting *far* to low a baseline.... I mean really, did you all catch that episode where they freed the colonists from the Klingon thugs through an assault? Definitely the worst seven samurai remake I've ever heard of... and possibly the worst episode of Enterprise. That says a *lot*.:-)
I thought that was one of the best Enterprise eps. And THAT says a lot about the eps that were WORSE!
I AGREE!!! I use cash when I buy gas & groceries. I only use my CC for online purchases, and large (over 100 bucks) purchases.
Your link gave me an error. Can I enter my number here? I'm sure I can trust my fellow Slashdotters.
As far as I'm concerned, if it happens in outer space, it's sci-fi. Though, I agree that BSG has elements of drama as well.

So far, so good. The Wraiths ARE lame (IMO), but they haven't appeared that often.

I agree. That Cylon babe looks a lot better than "Lucifer" of the original, but her constant appearances ARE distracting.

Yeah, but the other 2 switched to SG1.

Hell, I don't live in Alaska, but I did exactly that! In 3 feet of snow!!
Microsoft DOES copy other companies GUIs. The Mac's GUI, in fact. The last time MS tried to innovate, they gave us BoB!
What if the other universe is antimatter, and by entering, I blow myself, and a big chunk of both universes up?
*try running many regular programs -- ACCESS DENIED*
There's a reason why many people run Windows as root, and it's not always cluelessness.

My guess is that the people around 100 would be very conservative, but at some point they'll be so bored that they'll be ready to try new stuff again.

The difference is, now a writer's strike would improve things!
Another reason to hate Canada! ;)

I agree that the early seasons of TNG were dreck, but they were STILL better than ANY season of Enterprise.
