Other ways of installing Debian don't always work right. I've installed Knoppix, but when I tried upgrading to "real" Debian, it borked KDE and probably other stuff too.
Since when? Slackware is text-based and doesn't automate much, but it's straight-forward and relativly easy to install. Debian is a complicated mess to install, far harder than Slackware.
I've always thought the same thing. If the goal is to save money, why not go for the BIG money? As far as management skills go, I'm confident that the Indian boss would do at least as well as the average PHB.
But the Canadians, Irish, Germans, and Brits earn decent money. I'd have no problem competing against Indian programmers who made 60K/year, or even slightly less.
The problem with Perl is when more than one person is maintaining the program. I've been using Perl at home, and it seems better than any other language I've tried, but I'd hate working on someone else's Perl code!
You can go doublecheck what you deposited last week but you can't (and shouldn't be able to) go back and doublecheck how you voted last week.
No, but you SHOULD be able to verify that if you vote for Kerry, the machine doesn't register a vote for Perot. A human-readable paper slip that you drop in the voting slot before you leave solves that problem.
It's not useless to me. I use Mozilla at home, but at work, I'm stuck with Netscape. And if NS wasn't around, I'd have to use that M$ browser that sounds like a scream (and causes them).
I also use 4.7, and it works reasonably well. I do get warnings that "This site only supports browsers made after the dinosaurs died", but Slashdot still works.
I second this! On one occasion, I was talking with my GF in the car, and I saw an accident ahead which blocked one lane and was causing drivers to merge into my lane. I literally stopped talking mid-sentence until I got past that mess and the GF could plainly see why I shut up. If she'd been on the phone, she might have wondered why I suddenly stopped talking.
Imagine a large company making critical software for 95% of boxes. Imagine a major attack on that companies HQ! Imagine the chaos when there's nobody to issue patches for the next big virus/worm/trojan to attack said system!!
Ack! No it wouldn't be cool! I'd hate becoming a big green monster everytime someone cut me off in traffic. Hmm, OTOH, maybe that wouldn't be so bad after all.
The thing to worry about isn't if it's delayed again. The thing to worry about is if it ISN'T! Assuming you use the damn thing. If you're 100% Linux, you should hope that MS releases a brown-bag SP.
One of the admins caught someone who forgot to log out at the end of the day and changed his password to UraDope.
My understanding is that Unstable is more likely to break, but it gets fixed faster than Testing. Is that correct?

Is that the new Sarge installer?
Don't exagerate! I'm sure Debian is up to the 2.2 kernel by now.
Did they specify the year?

But what if your heart runs on Slackware? No RPMs there!

Maybe that's because the Irish & Canadians actually get paid real money. Nobody's going to outsource to them when they have slave labor elsewhere.
Because the other OS bash works under is dying!
I've never had any problem figuring out my old Perl code. I'll admit that I wouldn't want to tackle someone else's stuff.

You don't need unbiased counters. You just need to make sure all the Dem counters are being watched like hawks by Repubs (and vice-versa)

Yup! At home, I use Mozilla, but my boss thinks Mozilla is some sort of cheese. His only choices are Netscape or IEEE (sic).

I'm not a father, so I'll ask a dumb question. Is your toddlers PU radioactive?
Yeah, but if you're one of the 60% that get a foobared box, your 3rd party security WILL be obsolete!
