I'm also thinking about trying Gentoo. A manual LFS took me a week and I still had no X or internet access. From what I've heard, I could probably install Gentoo overnight, or at least over a weekend. And without needing a host distro.

I don't know anything about Rock or Gentoo, but Sourcerer requires an obcene amount of RAM + swap. LFS might be good if you have loads of time to get it right. Myself, after 1 week I had something that did little more than boot, and I didn't really have enough HD space for LFS + my host distro.

It was the first day! The mother probably thought the panic room was unneccesary. The only way diabetic meds would be in there is if the previous owner was a diabetic, and left his meds when he left. Certainly there were security holes, but the biggest holes, just like in reality, was in the people (Mom's failure to hook up the phone or to put daughter's meds in a room she didn't even think she'd need)

Frequently, I hear Debian users excuse their install with "you only do it once". The problem is you HAVE to do it that once, and if you can't install, it doesn't matter HOW good the rest of the system is. With Mandrake, the user at least has a system up, though the stability may be questionable. With Debian, the same user may scratch his head, utter 4 letter words, and return to Doze.
