Yup! I also remember the booze in the grocery stores being roped off Sunday morning so you couldn't buy it. Which doubtless meant higher booze sales Saturday evenings.
I loved Zahn's Thrawn trilogy. I don't really remember any of the other Start Wars books I bought, and I gave up on them fairly quickly, but those were good.
The biggest problem isn't the OS, but the software on the OS. LibreOffice may not be fully compatible with MS Office docs or spreadsheets, and gnucash isn't Quicken.
Android is fine if you want to look at cat videos or play Angry Birds. But for a general purpose desktop? Nope! The real alternative to Android is iOS. Windows, Linux, and MacOS are entirely different.
Yup! I could see Odo changing into a mouse, but he wouldn't move very well with the mass of a human. And it should take a very big bucket to hold him in his liquid form.
The news started with "these are the 5 worst things that happened in our city" then it became "these are the 5 worst things that happened in our state" then "these are the 5 worst things that happened in our country" and now it's "these are the 5 worst things that happened on the planet"
And every day, somewhere, something really bad happened.
And people have trouble determining how likely that event is going to happen to them anytime soon [normally, a lottery ticket is more likely to hit].
In another few centuries, those supernovae in the Andromeda Galaxy will be front page news!
Yes, I do. I haven't used Yahoo for ages, but I often get on gmail. My phone is fine for reading emails, but it's a lot easier to respond to them on a real computer, rather than the phone or tablet.
The longevity is a double-edged sword. When I left my ISP mail, I had relatively few emails, most of which were spam. I have 100X more stuff in gmail than every previous provider combined. Most of it's not important, but it would still affect me more than my previous switches did.
Recently, they had to give me a new hard drive on my work computer, and I had a virgin install of Firefox (no adblocker). I was on the web while waiting on work, and the anti-virus warned of a possible virus from one of the sites (might have been/. but not sure). The adblocker is back on.
I remember one time I was at a doctor's, and he was training a new doc. The newbie seemed to care, but the old timer acted like he didn't give a damn. This was quite a while ago, so I suspect the younger doctor has learned to be a pompous, uncaring ass by now.:-P

I'd rather see people with Spock-ears than with Jar Jar-tongues!
Many people think the prequels should be shot from a canon.
The difference is, the originals were good but aged badly. The prequels started off bad.

The extra animals didn't bug me, but Han stepping on Jabba's tail was just stupid.
And assembly language could indicate a tendency toward machosism.

Spyware, and the possibility that a W10 update will break something important.

I've always wondered what would happen in a combined Star Trek/Star Wars universe. Could an Imperial Stormtrooper actually hit a red-shirted guy?
Yup! I could see Odo changing into a mouse, but he wouldn't move very well with the mass of a human. And it should take a very big bucket to hold him in his liquid form.
Also, on my desktop I want a real filesystem and multiple windows. IOS has neither, and I don't think regular Android does either.
I live in the city. There's far more bird shit than soil. I'm in favor of more cats.
But, does your dog prefer PC or Mac?
5 years? I'm old now, you insensitive clod!
I might have been 5'10" in 1972!
They are Linux in the same way that my Tivo is Linux. They might have the same kernel, but they don't have the "spirit" of Linux.

Yes, we do.

My first experience was Windows 3, I forget whether it was 3.0 or 3.1. I installed it on a 286. With 1Mg RAM. Ever seen a snail run through molasses?
