    When I was growing up, I lived close to a school. 5 blocks from my grade school, 4 or 5 from my high school. In my senior year I was over a mile from HS, but I was 18 and it was past the winter season, so no excuse not to walk. These days, the old grade school is closed and it would be a few miles to the nearest one that's still open.

    Yup! I walked to school all the time. I was only 5 blocks from my old grade school, but these days even that's too far for the nannies in charge.

    ^This! I recently moved, and my first choice was Google Fiber. Except that they didn't serve that area yet. My 2nd choice was Uverse. Same problem. Time Warner got my business by default.

    When somebody takes out a loan, they aren't offered death as an alternative.

    Depends on the reason for the loan. Maybe they need it for one of life's necessities, like food, medicine, or the newest iPhone.

    One of the main things I do when I visit my mom on the weekend is drive her to the grocery store (so I don't need to peek in her fridge). I can guarantee she wouldn't want remote cameras in her fridge, or anywhere else.

    My complaint with my Ubuntu desktop is that it doesn't go into sleep mode. My complaint about my Windows laptop is it doesn't come OUT of sleep mode.

    Never say never. There was one time when I was driving and some idiot pulled out right in front of me. I was too close to stop, but was able to swerve around him. Admittedly, if there had been oncoming traffic the swerve would have been worse than just T-Boning the idiot, but there wasn't.

    Most of the time, I switch between two stations. All I have to do is feel for the buttons and press "1" or "2". Without taking my eyes off the road.

    I agree that two cars doing 30 is safer than two cars doing 70. However, two cars doing 70 is still safer than one car doing 30 and the other doing 70 (at least assuming the 30 MPH car is ahead of the 70).

    It bugs me when a cop parks near the ramp I take onto the highway. I'm accelerating to highway speed when suddenly the guy ahead of me spots the cop and slams his brakes.

    I often see idiots like that in the RIGHT lane. Sometimes they get right on my butt even when they could get easily past me on the left!

    I wonder, do these driverless cars do take cues from turn signals, to know when someone is about to make an abrupt and dangerous move? Such as "guy in left lane with his right turn signal on and there is an exit coming up in .1 miles; I bet I am about to get cut off."

    Even better, can the driverless car recognize such behavior when they DON'T use their turn signals. I can often tell by the way the car moves and how close it is to the car ahead of it that the idiot is about to cut in front of me, even when they aren't using their signals.

    You drive on an bridge and an child steps into the path of the car, the ONLY to options for the self driving car is to kill the child or kill the driver of the car. There are no time to do anything else........ What will the car do?
