Seriously, Sweden has become one of the most feminized countries in teh world (right up there with Iceland), and not in a good way. Take anything they say wrt rape, DV, etc with a huge grain of salt. Over there, and to a lesser extent in the west, women can do no wrong and are to be placed upon pedestals or suffer the iron fist of the govt power they now wield.
In case you haven't noticed women have been using this sort of thing for decades to curry favor in divorce proceedings.
It's time for anonymity for sex-crime suspects!

This is exactly why sex-crime suspects need to have their identities shielded until convicted. Even if exonerated tons of damage can and usually does get inflicted by public perception, of which the lingering effects can be extremely destructive.
Glenn Sacks talked about this subject just this morning:
So they can get out of paying a jackpot for an engineering glitch, fine I'll accept there's a mistake. However, they need to pay up anyway. Why? Because other people are getting screwed out of their winnings by being told they lost, when they must have won due to engineering mistakes.
Everyone should claim they won, but the machine messed up. Force them to inspect each and every transaction. When they go broke from people being adamant about not getting screwed they'll just cut their losses.
Or, sue the ever living shit out of the casino for it.
This is what happens when your long term corporate strategy ends with being bought out by one of the Big 3. With GM, Ford, and Chrysler having their own problems (and being unable to buy upstarts like Tesla) it's only a matter of time before they implode. That's exactly what's going to happen if they don't get a cash infusion by external sources. Make no mistake here folks, on their own Tesla has a snowball's chance in hell of competing on the market as an independent entity.
for this to hit the living room en mass. I've been wondering why they weren't releasing movies in 3D on DVD & BR for a while. It wasn't until all the hoopla with Avatar and the CES news on teh HD3DTV that I discovered why. I'm one of those people that will be using the technology. And don't forget, this just going to be a value added feature you can opt-in for when buying your new TV. I don't think anyone is expecting everyone to run out and get a new Plasma, LCD, or LED TV like they did a few years ago with the threat of the pending changeover to digital from analogue signals. That had the added push of "well, I need to upgrade anyway, why not get a nice new flat screen?"
This time around the bulk of 3D adoption will be when those first and second gen plasmas and LCDs to tits up.
I dont know anyone that wants a tablet PC. We've had them for years and they're not all that big of a deal. Now a netbook with a removable tablet screen I can can take with me and wirelessly surf the web, watch media, etc? Now that I'd like. Or just ditch netbook/laptop features and give me a lightweight, durable, 12" touchpad to use like an iPhone, apps and all.
Bingo. Anyone can file a DMCA takedown notice and per the law the provider must act. However, that same provider has to respond in kind if the claimed infringer challenges the copyright claim. Bottom line: Wired dropped the ball on this one by hosting on their own servers and not taking Youtube to task.
It's clear from reading the comments that most of you don't know what you're talking about in regards to 4E. The rules are far more streamlined, although not to the absurdity known as SAGA. The classes are going to be balanced, but roles will be distinct. However, you will still be functional in and out of battle, even if you're bread and butter roles are mitigated for some reason. Also, no more resting for the night because the mage shot his wad at the first encounter (and burned through his spells). Your toons can even heal themselves to a point, so for early levels a cleric isn't even necessary.
A good glimpse into the 4E world can be found below for what I witnessed and more during the beta:
The simplest reason people in that field are from those countries is because unlike Americans when they finish school they'll have a job waiting for them.
*Sigh* Here we go again.... Its not stealing a damn thing if the wireless network is accepting your laptop's request to join the network and use its services. In fact the network is explicitly allowing you to use the network. Without it configured to do so the damn thing wouldn't work.
Had the guy using the wireless cracked the store's WEP key or something similar, then, and only then, would he be guilty of theft of service (the same as if someone illegally unscrambled SAT TV). Speaking of which, wireless networking is exactly like broadcast and SAT/Cable TV. When unencrypted and unfiltered it is no different than OTA TV. When encrypted or filtered its protected just like SAT & cable TV. Period. You crack the signal you're guilty of theft of service. Its just that simple folks.
If those lights bother him so much, how about buying some tape and calling it a day. Seriously, most of the lights he's bitching about serve a valid purpose and manufacturers turning them off would probably open them up to litigation of some sort. The only valid point I saw in his "bill" was the option to disable the LEDs by consumers. That might be the happy middle people like him can settle for.

"I'd like to speak to your supervisor."
That's the first thing they should have said upon being stopped by the private security.
Fully agree!
So? How is that different from stores putting the wrong price on goods? IIRC they're required to honor, although it could vary state to state.

Must be nice. I'm originally from Ohio and have tons of family. Time for them to GTFO.

Such an important point everyone should think about.

I would so mod you up if I had points right now. I love the quote, if only I knew what it was from...
If you're in the military and living overseas it most definitely means you're poorer. Ditto if you're traveling abroad.
The simplest reason people in that field are from those countries is because unlike Americans when they finish school they'll have a job waiting for them.
This film was announced 2 years ago. It's been a work in progress for a while and was planned to be theaters next summer.
"Theater managers cannot distinguish between good and bad stealing."
I see someone doesn't know what a false dichotomy is.

A nice cousin to Maher's quote earlier:

"Don't be so open minded that your brain falls out."

"Let us not become so tolerant that we tolerate intolerance". That really is a great quote. Plus its versatile. For example, you could easily invoke it to challenge Creationists and disingenuous thinkers such as those who performed this science fair: http://digg.com/general_sciences/Horra_Another_Chr istian_Science_Fair_embarrasses_itself
Yup. Burns more power, performs slower, and is $50 more than the better performing NVidia card. Sure sounds like a mega-flop to me. ;)

All things being equal I'd take the atheist candidate in a heartbeat.
