Except that web applications are easier to manage and distribute if they're done right. i.e. no visiting every desktop, think clients. The key part is done right, however.
I mean, seriously. The govt. is spying on us now more than ever. The 4th Ammendment is being shredded. John Poindexter, a convicted felon, is now in charge of a major govt. spy project. Pigs are flying, Microsoft's off without even a slap on the wrist, we're about to go to war with Iraq and nerds are spending money to try to get Farscape back on the air. Am I missing something about the importance of Farscape? Clearly I must be, because I can think of... oh.... a million things more important.
Actually, this plan might not work. I heard that Harry Stamper and Ben Affleck are on the rocks since he asked J-Lo to marry him. Harry needs Ben's help to stop any asteroid, so I think we may be screwed. We may have to go to plan B and call Robert Duvall.
Not saying they haven't supported it. But the updates haven't come terribly frequently and haven't really been earth-shatterning. I'm just hoping they don't abandon us here, because these look like significant updates that could be provided to 5600 users.
I'm mostly speaking from experience as a former PocketPC user who *had* to upgrade to the new WinCE device in order to take advantage of newer software. I'm hoping Sharp doesn't try to do the same thing.
I just wanted to give a shout-out to all the current 5500 users... Uh, seriously, though, we should all email Sharp and let them know that it would be nice if they'd kick a ROM update down to us. There are known problems with the current Zaurus software (especially the PIM) that have been fixed in Opie. I know, I know, run OpenZaurus. OpenZaurus has problems too. So it would be nice if we could get an official Sharp ROM update that included the newer Qtopia. Who's with me?
Mod this down. A major disappointment? I'll remember that while riding the train to work, programing PHP on my web server and listening to MP3s. Maybe when I get home, pop in my wireless card and SSH into my server to check mail on Pine I'll compose an email to everyone saying stay away from the Zaurus. It's not useful for anything.
Please Michael, just go away. From your involvement with MP3s to this it's quite apparant that like a mosquito you're trying to suck the lifeblood out of whatever trend geeks are into. Please stop. Go away, don't start an OGG company or a DIVX company next. Just go get a job, stop pissing off the suits and embarassing Linux.
Seriously. Once everyone's job has been eliminated, downsized or automated, who is going to have the money to buy the products these companies produce? It's days like this that I hate capitalism. I understand the desire to want to make life easier, but to what end, where does it stop? Once the environment is utterly decimated and no one can do any work beyond being a $40 million CEO or a 3rd world sweatshop work, who wins? Is that utopia? Yeah! We won. No one gets to work anymore. We can all fight over the scraps of the rich and eat soylent green.

Oh yeah, Struts is good!

Is THAT the way it's going to go down? Holy crap, now I'm worried.

Just wait. You joke, but there are always people on the mailing lists, a few days after they buy their Z, asking if they can install PocketPC.

Am I on Slashbay? Besides, why would someone want a 5000D after reading this?

That may have been the point. It's a tremendous opportunity, Ms. Lacter said, for us to build brand awareness.
Microsoft's brand being doing illegal and annoying things, right? Mission accomplished.

No kidding. I wish they'd put out some of THESE on DVD (the MST3K version, I mean).
