I never even bothered to jump on the constant new game release wagon. I have continued to sink most of my time into old school games like the board game Risk and cards (bridge is awesome).
Of course, every now and again something special will come out brand new...
With the completion of the X Prize I am much more confident in private companies improving space access then NASA. Rather then spend endless amounts of time, effort and money reworking the 1970's shuttle design, NASA's efforts would be better spent researching new and improved vehicles. They seem to not want to do this though...
Driving a color screen uses up much more batteries then a simple B&W one does. Personally I would prefer increased battery life - I don't feel the need for color in my music player.
Good thing I already have an iPod;-). Also, this announcement didn't mention the iPod mini. I assume they are still B&W?
My cousin's a civil engineer and she gets to go out to work-sites and stuff like that. There's certainly some desk-work that goes along with it, but it's not 100% of the time.
There's certainly challenging problems in building things (especially really big things =), so maybe it's something you should consider.
I don't think it's fair to say that stealth start-ups suck 100% of the time. Fletcher does make some good points, and he's certainly right in some cases.
There are also advantages to a stealth start-up. For example the 24 Hour Laundry project (that he talks about) has Marc Andreesen as a member. With that kind of name they are guaranteed to get big press when they 'come out'. It's still possible to get feedback from (a private group) of users in stealth mode and take it into account. And they will be able to continue that after launch with a larger group.
In this world of short attention spans you should show off some meat at the very beginning. Before you joke about the last episode and/or your friends. Otherwise it just gets closed.
There's no quality control, but audio.weblogs.com is a comprehensive list of the newest podcasts (audio available for download) as they become available. Take a gander and you can find some cool stuff in there.
Clearly this is a job for Microsoft, a company with large resources and the necessary pull to get a standard in place. Yes, there's some risk that Ukranian script kiddies may be able to 0wnz your air conditioner unit, but I'm sure there will be a patch out soon.
Anyone who reads Jonathan Schwartz's blog will know that Sun is gonna open-source java. He's been hinting about it for a while now, interspersed with hyping up the open-source release of solaris. Sun seems to understand that going open-source is there best chance of survival in the software world.
Many ISPs (and the webmail providers) have taken to just blocking the most egregious spam before it even gets to users. So your mailbox could be getting some spam that you don't even see. It still gets sent and clogs up the network though.
And just imagine if they had used their new improved battery with the B&W screens. You'd have even more then 15 hours then.

Go Virgin Galactic!

And here I thought the article would be talking about the exotic force of latin women...
Because what mainboard article would be complete without being jealous of the female technician's hardware...

Not to mention that there's already a fricken levy on CDs and other media to compensate artists for downloading.
Confident enough to post under a username?
Just because you aren't getting any doesn't mean the rest of us aren't. A confident nerd is a powerful being.
It's about bloody time they made a titanium prophylactic. Normal condoms just aren't powerful enough for some folks out there.
Here's the story of how some dude learned French in a year.

If you don't want to see sigs then turn them off in your /. preferences.
And I say put the money towards going after more spammers. Build up the momentum these cases provide.

famous last words...

nVidia doesn't really have anything to lose from this. Something that doesn't exist doesn't take up very much booth space at all.
