Ahh but the difference is that the ipod costs less than $1000.. and falls into the "discretionary" spending category, while a tablet would likely be in the > $1000 range and no longer something that can be afforded with single paycheck...
That could be a reason to be considered.. I think that it wouldn't make too much sense for IBM to do this, unless it would help them push more tin out the door (I hear margins on P series machines are quite nice) so nothing is beyond the realm of possibility.
Having run both Solaris and AIX, (On E10k's P690's) I can say straight up that Solaris is one hell of a lot easier to work with than AIX. Especially if you have to do any porting of open source software. And Oracle runs MUCH better on Solaris than AIX, plus most Oracle DBA's are more comfortable using solaris than AIX. Perhaps this would serve as a stop-gap until Sun comes up with some serious hardware.
I don't think Sun gives two shakes about Apple and MacOSX. Let's face it, the SPARC architecture is dead, the most compelling CPU in the RISC market is the IBM POWER5, this chip is not the braindead G5 in the Mac.. (sorry apple fanboys) but is a true enterprise class processor. So it might behoove Sun to port Solaris to run on High-End IBM hardware. If you could get Oracle to run on a big IBM P series box with Solaris you could do some serious data-warehousing. (Without DB2 and AIX!) Maybe oracle is helping fund this effort??
No way, I just bought a 3Ghz Dell with a Gig of RAM 160GB HD and 18" LCD monitor, it would have cost me over $3000 for the same apple machine, the Dell was $1500... Apple is too damn expensive, it can be argued that they are "workstation" quality, but I would say for 98% of the stuff I do can be done on the $1500 machine, the other 2% does not justify another $1500.. Sorry can't rationalize spending the kind of money that Apple wants for it's systems! (Luckily work can, I am typing this on a Dual G4 right now)
My wife loves Tivo, it is simple to use, records shows she likes to watch, and I don't have to spend ANY TIME showing her how to use it.. I seriously doubt that ANY computer based DVR would be capable of this.
But then the divorce attorney would be sure to make up the difference! That's the point right, I mean sure I could put one together cheaper than Dell or HP, but then It would take time away from other things, it's just a question of how valuable your time is... simple
After reading FFN, I would have to agree that fast food industry is not a happy place, but the fact is it's not going anywhere. Advertising creates demand . As for In N Out, yeah they rock! I was very happy that they opened resturaunts in Arizona! Even my kids won't eat McNasty burgers now they have had In N Out.. worth the drive, worth the wait for FRESH food. Also I have seen there job postings, $9/hr to start! and people who are happy working there tend to produce a better product. (How much *Good* code would you write for $5.35 hr?)
I had a good friend, who was a psychologist no less who I believe had schizophrenia, (The helicopters that were following him was a pretty good indicator) a bunch of us were going to perform an intervention, and that night he disappeared. Nobody could find him but his truck, wallet, keys were found in somebodies yard about 30 miles from his house. They found his body about 1 year later in the middle of the desert.. This disease is no joke, it took a guy who was a great person and turned him into a someone completely different..
There are so many more labels out there now, I wonder if the report takes into account all of the private labels, i.e. bands making their own CD's etc. There are out there. There is music available today for EVERYBODIES tastes. Since radio has reduced itself to playing the same stuff over and over again (think about it, there is a "classic rock" station in every major market!) People are looking elsewhere to fufill their musical desires. (Live shows and festivals come to mind) Overall sales are down because places that sell the most CDs (Wal-mart Bestbuy etc) have a very limited selection of choices, mostly whats on the radio (see above). I know my music consumption has dropped quite a bit in the last 10 years, but then there just isn't that much that I find compelling to listen to anymore.
The thing to remember is this worm infected any machine running the MSDE (A scaled down MS-SQL server) So if you were running Access or Office 2000 or MS Visual Studio 6, or even Visio 2000 you could be affected by this. Most end users don't even know that they would be vulnerable and the statement "This particular worm largely ignored home and personal computers, due to the product it infects" is false. It also seems to have had an effect on certain Cisco routers. Not fun but you can't just blame "Poor Admins" as the culprits for the virualance of the worm.
Would be that it will be "open" to other Microsoft technologies. This has been their method of operation in the past. As long as you only have a Microsoft environment everything works well with each other..
"As for tablet PCs, Gartner believes individual consumers are more likely to adopt such technologies earlier, as fashion accessories. Enterprises as a whole will find that they are not yet robust enough for heavy daily usage in the corporate world"
Two thoughts sprang to my mind here, 1. yet windows is used in the corporate world 2. If these devices are consumer level they won't sell many at $1500 a pop.
I don't think Microsoft would agree with those statements! I have to disagree with their conclusions on these devices and I think that pen based input will be much more prevelant in the future as OCR improves.
They have said from the get go that they didn't care about losing money to dominate the market.. And they have taken some market share from Nintendo and a small amount from Sony.. But that number seems pretty small for a company with like 20 billion in cash..
My wife and I are still looking for the perfect ring, and we've been married for almost 12 years!! Stay focused on love and make sure that you both communicate your feelings, this is MUCH more important than any material items!!

It could be the "updated" IBM version of SP2 is a nice clean Linux install...

Actually if I remember correctly, this is from a pretty funny Woody Allen movie, Sleeper
I mean Sempron? Opteron, Xeon, maybe I would by a new processor when they come out with the Orgasmatron!
sounded pretty neat, they have a good write up here Since I missed it glad someone took some pictures!

Like "Luke Skywalker" or "Princess Leia" But it would be cool to get enough money to have your own death star!!

She can't take much more of it!! She's at 110% now!!
I know that at here you can donate to womens shelters for use as emergency 911 phones, they don't need to have service to call 911.
