    I did not attribute things to luck and I agree with you that you can "make your own luck". I just don't think that your own luck and the organization's luck are the same. When I was young, I did a lot of work in companies and never asked for a raise, so I didn't always get one. Now that I know better how to bargain, I can get better paychecks. This means that "I made my own luck", but did not improve the company's luck in any way. Other people might get a bigger wage through connections or through political pressure (how dare you not give a person of color enough pay, you racist!).

    My only claim here is that "How helpful you are of the business" and "How much you earn" are not 100% correlated, hell, sometimes, in some companies, these things are barely connected.

    Oh look, the "capitalist" assumes that people are paid according to how better they are and not according to how much leverage they have over management (a combination of several factors, being "better" is just one of them)

    In a world of mass media, being ruled by the people ends up being ruled by a cadre of irrational tyrants (media tycoons and fringe movements that know how to get likes) whose words are constantly distorted further and further.

    It relied on the assumption that most people are rational, which in fact they were not. It was able to support itself using media gatekeepers which prevented mass-hysteria of the population and managed to keep them educated and informed to some extent. The moment that freedom of speech became absolute, and any idea of "knowledgeable" or "respectable" was lost, the truth about the populous was revealed. It was then that many people began to realize that democracy is based on a lie - that every man is rational.

    Look, nobody's forcing him to brag online about his violent escapades, but the moment he chooses to do so, other people have the right to use that knowledge. This really has nothing with 1984, where people are forced to disclose their information by ever present eavesdropping.

    Dating sites are not a critical aspect of modern communications.

    Considering that most people seek a relationship, and that face to face first communication is becoming more and more of a taboo, are you sure about that?

    That unlike cars, dating is somethig that almost people need, and in western civilization it has become more and more accepted, for adults to get to know each other for the purpose of dating ONLY on dating sites.

    Funny, cause reddit is also one of the networks with the highest quality of comments. I guess that according to ad-tech companies, people are valuable the more they are stupid & passive consumers.

    Orthodox jews have a rule that says they must not use electrical devices on Saturday except to save a life. I had a friend who adopted a version of this rule where he avoids using communication devices (he still used the internet for browsing websites, this was before the social network age). In the past I thought they were all dumb. Lately I'm beginning to think they had a point.

    I suspect that it's happening because it's becoming harder and harder for people to communicate with each other IRL. We are gradually becoming scared of experiencing reality without a digital filter.

  23. Paper don't publish photos on classified ads. I think that makes a big difference. Also, local papers are much more likely to listen to take-down requests than tech companies.
