Well I'd say that's even better than baseball. They can cut to commercial any time nothing exciting is actually happening, and if a crash happens they replay it a billion times anyway, so no big deal.
Not a whole lot when you consider that many find loopholes to cheat on taxes. In my parents' town the mayor didn't like paying so much property tax so it's based on how much road is in front of your house, not acreage. So he can have property 100 feet wide at the road but have it go back half a mile and pay the same property tax as someone who has the same width of property at the road but their property only goes back 100 feet. It's a racket and a way to make the rich richer, not through hard work, but by racketeering.
It seems to me that the poor in this country only get richer as a result of inflation, nothing else. I don't understand what you mean by "the poor get richer" when they may get raises, but the cost of living goes up faster than their pay.
I worked at a company after Windows XP came out that was just starting to look at the possibility of upgrading from NT4.0 to 2000. They literally had just installed their first 2000 test workstation about 6 months after XP was released.
I think there is a *very* significant amount of people that would take that free upgrade to make their car into a race car, and then take their car to the manufacturer saying "Why the hell did this fall apart? I know I didn't change the oil, transmission fluid, steering fluid, etc, etc, but it should just work!" Look at all the "ricer" cars out there where people make stupid upgrades that make their car run *worse* and even pay for it!
I don't have as much faith in the average person (maybe just average American, where I live) as you do.
Maybe it's that the processor throttled down at a max heat capacity but didn't lock. Maybe it was processing some info for the XBox360 that made it hotter when it throttled back up immediately in response to a drop of a degree or something. All pure speculation but funny to think that a "locked up" machine will do that.
Well everywhere I look Blu-Ray discs are $30-50 US depending on the age of the movie usually. I see most DVDs (at least those that interest me) at $10-15. So yes, I'd say that's 2-3x. Maybe more are closer to $15 (or maybe even $17) but still the same point. Especially since from what I've seen (you can correct me if you own a large number of Blu-ray titles already) the Blu-Ray version is almost identical to the DVD.
Maybe you buy your movies elsewhere but I don't like getting ripped off.
I can think of many women (not as many as a few years ago though) what would love to help you with that last part you said. Just wait: you'll see a bunch of them holding placards saying "Screw Cruise, Please!"
Your point goes back to the 80s as well. Even back then people would lend movies back and forth, with maybe 3 people in a group of 50 actually buying anything, even if the whole group were to chip in.
If that ain't P2P (person to person) I don't know what is.
But the new computer with a DVD+-RW drive I just bought gives me a way to copy it for about $0.50 (cost of the media) and I can make as many copies as I want. If the copy protection weren't there. I have a way to make copies at no cost to them, no hassle to them, so why shouldn't they want to let me do it?
Price gouging is a term that I guess is more apt with monopolistic services. This may not be the best use of the term, but it can sort of be applied.
Basically what price gouging means is one of two things. Either one company has a monopoly on something (like MS Windows) and charges higher than normal rates (at least I think so) for the product, but you can't get it from another vendor. The other way to price gouge is for all vendors of a specific product to agree on a basic pricing strategy (as people are saying is happening with gas stations in the US) and they all stick to it even though their actual costs are much lower than the amount they raised prices.
If that isn't clear enough let me know and I'll try to give you a better explanation.
Some people don't care about wealth. For them the equation is all about power over others. So they'd still want to enslave others. Not saying they wouldn't want to access the free energy themselves, but some people are just such bastards they don't want others to have access to the same freebies.
Which is why they nailed people through the wrist, where it would hold them. They would tie and nail them, and depending on how well they nailed they'd take the ties off if possible.
That's what the whole second disc of the Japanese version was for! But since Rikku wasn't exactly legal, and they made it seem that Tidus was, they weren't allowed by stupid American lobbyists.
IT was only a few years ago, and if I understand your meaning, yes it would have been apt-like in that it checks dependencies and all that. If not, sorry but I'm not sure what you're referring to.
It was hard for me when I tried, and I had a valid.edu email address. They didn't want to let me in because I was at a somewhat small college whose faculty hadn't contacted them. So I said "fuck you" to facebook for being idiots and didn't try any more.
Yes, yes we did. I know so many people that went to school in somewhat out of the way areas (small towns) where they were having sex when 12 and drinking at 8 cause there's nothing else to do besides farm work.

But what if the Blu-Ray movies are 2-3 times the cost of a DVD? Will you still buy all Blu-Ray? I know I won't.
Wow, amazingly when I read the comment I read it as "one and the same" because that's what made sense.....
Guess I'm not as much of a spelling/grammar nazi as I thought.....

3o MB? try 300 MB for newer ones.

So how long til the Vogons start rattling my windows for speakers?

Be careful. MS might sue you over the patent to Freecell. It comes with every copy of Windows so they have to have the rights to it, right? ;)

you make $6-8 for flipping burgers, just so you know

If you need Viagra to masturbate, then what's the point anymore? ;)
Yes, yes we did. I know so many people that went to school in somewhat out of the way areas (small towns) where they were having sex when 12 and drinking at 8 cause there's nothing else to do besides farm work.
I'd like to see a thousand people download a song from me in a week! with this crap-ass bandwidth I'll be lucky to get a hundred....
