    What he says isn't that hard to understand. People find him intelligent but he feels like he should have a broader culture. Just because others find you intelligent doesn't mean you are and certainly doesn't mean that you want to be less intelligent.

    If you complain about bundling Realplayer into Windows then you should tell us how else we can FIX the problem. RP would most likely be on many computers today if it hadn't been for MS giving away from free their ASF encoder/server.

    The reason is simple. If Real didn't have to put through all the illegal conduct that MS put them through they wouldn't have had to rely on spyware to survive and their product would probably be installed on the majority of computers right now.

    You see RealPlayer only started to suck when MS offered its ASF encoder/server for free hoping to dethrown Real who needs to charge for their software because they don't have an OS monopoly to finance everything they do for the next 10 years.

    is that the people in charge of funding them are always looking for military use. It goes to show how the US military is spending way too much for what they get. I mean a missile costing 250,000$USD?? cmon it's the size of a spray paint can!

    Now I'm all for helping people with disabilities and all but if they build this with the military in mind they'll most likely not have an invention which is affordable to someone on disability.

    I'll give just a few examples with Konqueror then.

    1. Why does the "View With Cervisia" button appear when the folder you are viewing isn't even a CVS directory? If your program can guess this faster than I can then I should have to see this at all.

    2. Now the menu bar (Location, Edit, View, ...). Why aren't these padded on the left and right? Why are they so close to one another?

    3. Why do you have so many different views? And most importantly why do you have "Info List View" and "Detailed List View". Isn't just one sufficient?

    4. why is it that the only place I can right-click to customize my toolbar is the go button? I happen to right-click on the tool bar to attempt any such customization.

    I may not be Jakob Nielsen but I happen to do Usability consulting for big players in the industry in Europe and in North America. The problem with KDE right now as I said is that it is too kluttered.

    is that acceptance of Internet is much slower than it is in the US. It is hard to remove a perceived right in the US but in the EU most people aren't sharing files yet so it will be easier for them to implement such laws.

    Right now I'm making software and not making much money at all with it. But soon I'm going back to school in something totally unrelated to computer science and when I get out I won't work building software at all. On my spare time I'll probably be writing software and helping others who wrote software for free with the money I'll be making. Why you ask? Because I prefer giving 20$ to get a linux distribution I don't need to care about licensing or how many computers I have it installed on.

    thanks for replying. I am using Slackware and the Live Distro is Knoppix which I used when I screwed up things on my hdd so I thought it would be helpful in case I did something stupid here.

    I am using Lilo as a boot loader. I do not have Windows installed at all on this hard drive.

    I have a live CD sitting around. I'd like to know if there is a way to backup my kernel (in some other folder or something) and if attempting to install the 2.6 kernel doesn't work I'd just copy everything back. Is there a way to do this? Where do I start?

    Yahoo asks me for money to list my site on their directory. There seems to be a free way somewhere on the site but they hide it from me.

    If enough people like me are so frustrated with Yahoo and not put their pages up on it then Yahoo will become more irrellevant than it currently is.
