When will we see AI hardware? Anyone hear of any standards? If you're just thinking of gaming AI hardware seems a little over the top, but when you think of the direction that computers are supposed to go, AI hardware should be next on the list... HAL?
"Does anyone else miss real cars?"
WTF do you mean? I got over "real cars" shortly after I got one. When I can drive in the third dimension I'll be impressed. Hell, even doritos has broken into the 3rd dimension. Whats the damn hold up?
Oh yeah, THE FUCKING GOVERNMENT REGULATES IT OUT OF EXISTANCE.
blah. it's all lights and cooling and cable clutter and poppy cock. let me know when they design a QUIET computer case. noise cancelation tech, built in sound dampening materials, baffles on the outside fans... hell i dunno, but my heap is LOUD and i'm doubting that a "T" does much for noise.
"If you are willing to give up a measure of your free civilization so that these baddies will love you more, then you deserve none of it."
WTF are you talking about. In general, it's not the type of person you replied to but your type who is promoting a police state with the likes of TIA, detaining citizens w/o due process, and state run propoganda offices.
And while I'm at it, why don't you stop pimping your children out for your washed up bullshit adgendas.
Did you ever stop to think that his calling your "go pills" "crank" is a direct indication that "crank" would not exist if the "fuck stains" in washington (and those other "fuck stain havens") would drop their "war on drugs" line of bullshit so "people" can get their "fix" from your "trustworthy" pharmicutical producers instead of some "fucked up cocksmack" on the "street."
Oh now, I'm not too sure about all that... Turn your [electric] stove on. Turn your hair drier on and LOOK at the heating element. Mmhmm. LIGHT energy.
Nothing is 100% effifient except people... They annoy me 100% of the time.
"bring it on, if you really think you can convince yourself that it can be done."
Maybe the idea that they CAN'T do it right is the exact idea that should worry you. Think about this: They can't execute the war on (some) drugs correctly because it's a bullshit idea, same as TIA. Now we have jack-boot thugs busting in on completely innocent 70 year old couples and scaring them (literally) to death... And we have agents (of Matrix quality) imprisoning, denying medication, and consequently killing medical MJ patients who are using the drug legitmately (Peter McWilliams).
In short, things the government does that it is not supposed to do or cannot do correctly are the exact things you should worry about.
Regulated out of existance. Those fucking tethers are "required" by the FAA for experimental aircraft... for "safety" reasons. It's really interesting that they should be the cause of an "accident." I'm tellin ya folks, we aren't flying personal aircraft today because the powers that be have decided it allows too much freedom for joe blow who might decide to take a cruise over area 51. Your freedom - Regulated out of existance.
my c=64 is about 15 yrs old and was found to run flawlessly when re-commisioned a few months ago. what suprises me is that the floppies can still be read after sitting in the 120/10F degree attic for years. i'm lucky to get six months from an ibm floppy, inside a sealed case, room temperature with silica cel in the box.
good god, i hope quicktime isn't their main selling point.
ok,ok, actually i used one in high school and was impressed. but then again, it was the first gui i'd ever used so i had no choice to be impressed (comming from the c=64).
regardless, quicktime on ibm sucks according to my previous experience. unfortunately, i have new experience as the temptation from the CMU project was too much and I dl'ed QT anyway. no crashes thus far, but you won't catch me holding my breath.
Does quicktime (the sorry piece of shit) use video overlay? If so, and you're using nvidia you should have a control for video overlay color in the control panel.
I have NEVER seen a stable installation of quicktime and I'll be damned if I install it on my new machine.
It's a damn shame too because I've been waiting for this idea to materialize for a while. Maybe the next bunch of folks who take a stab at it won't fuck it up.
If politicians are getting paid by corporations, why do they need to vote themselves an increased salary every fucking year. When's the last time those pricks took a pay CUT. If a pay cut is fine, dandy, and standard for we serfs...
There are three possibilities - Fight it like they did over two hundred years ago, ignore it and be part of the problem, or quit contributing by getting the fuck out. Your answer is due before the police state arrives... DOH!
Bah! Whats the difference if we kill ourselves via pollution or are killed by nature?
Depletion of ionosphere? Radiation bursts? Sounds like a WMD(tm)! Maybe Billy Bob Bush ought to bomb god for trying to aquire them... We have all the proof that he is. Lets get those resoloutions written - one more chink in the armour of Homand Security(tm)!
Some say the end is near
Some say we'll see armageddon soon
I certainly hope we will
I sure could use a vacation from this

Artificial intelligence is one topic mentioned in the article and begs the question... When will artificial intelligence be importatn enough to deserve hardware acceleration? they make mention of AI SDK and with interactive help agents, game AI and so on, it almost seems that computer intellegence is deserving of it's own hardware. Hell, we can hardly get convincing AI from a multi-ghz multi-tasked processor. It'd sure make things easier for grandma to get tech support for her own machine and stop the whiney gamers from bitching about poor AI. Would you plop an AI accelerator in YOUR PCI port?
Outer Limits, Kings Island = Big Rail Gun
Hardware - graphics
Hardware - sound
Processor - physics

oh i dunno... did you put a bullet in your parents head when they beat your ass for acting like a dipshit?

"If we used nuclear power to replace coal alone, the world's uranium reserves would be gone in a century"
back that up, would you? i can't find it anywhere.
oh for fuck sake. put a tree view of visited pages in IE and be done with it. christ, you'd think the fabric of time was unraveling.
Why don't they mention anything about airplanes? Seemes kinds fishy to me.

pfft. qucktime. what a fucking waste.
Have none of you read Brave New World? Cheap mass produced disposable items keeps people buying and employed.
To mend old consumables is just uncivilized.
Do your part... Buy shitty products and toss them BEFORE they expire.
boredom.
i'll take a fix over that anyday
