Without a doubt. The Toshiba reactor is the same or related to one written about in a fairly recent issue of National Geographic (within last 12 months.) There was another type int that article as well, and both had different benefits, wish I could drag up a link or two. Point is, these technologies, old and new, are built to run for a long time. So what happens is, before older reactors fail we have come up with so many better designs. Time marches on, technology improves. But, suppliers of power aren't going to EOL plants prematurely unless there is significant monetary gain, or as in this case, there is no better choice.

If a mayday is sent out (and for this argument let's assume it's legit, I don't know how many are sent that aren't.) There may not be time for drones to report back and then dispatch helicopters. Perhaps someone from the USCG or similar agency can add to this....

Don't have it today? Don't worry, it will be here sometime. All this talk should surely be nonsense, but give it a bit of time. There are those who would much prefer it. The Fortigate looks good at first blush (haven't used one personally.) I've become rather not fond of AVG, I got more support calls from family who I used to recommend AVG to, related to AVG, than anything else. Mostly, the update nagging and seemingly absolutely immediately required upgrades to the latest, greatest version. That plus every time I used to instruct them on how to download it they were always tripped up by all the BS that came along with the download page. Really unobtrusive free download off to the side or the much larger, screaming in your face button which of course was either the non-free version or some other unneeded security product. That plus very recently AVG missed something on a family member's system and I had to do the clean up. It was MS Security Essentials from then on. Still, doesn't work from a licensing perspective in a business with greater than 10 systems. Still looking.....

These things are usually only used when you forget your password, or as in this case, someone is trying to gain access to your account. Since you rarely would need to know the answer I don't think there would be too much hassle is saving them in a safe place (not on your computer) and should you need the answer you'll have it. Meanwhile everyone else is typing in "James Monroe" because that is what is on your Facebook page. Note: I don't even use Facebook and I don't put personal information like that on websites. My wife, who is much younger, does like Facebook but she knows not to enter personal info such as "hey, going on vacation for two weeks tomorrow" or other personal info like that either. Further, she is not allowed to post anything about me, anywhere. Paranoia? Might have been thought so at one point but I think another article today speaks of Facebook making personal info available to developers. If they can get it, anyone can.

First, I think you took my part about access a bit too literally. Of course files should be scanned upon first encounter. Second, if files get on a system with a new exploit that hasn't hit the virus def file yet, I'd rather it get caught at some point, and in the real time protection scenario it will be picked up on access if it's not caught sooner (provided the virus defs have been updated to pick it up.)

Lastly, no need for swearing and all those caps. One can make a point without doing so and polite discourse if my preferred mode of communication. Of course, it takes all types and the net certainly makes it easy to do as you please. One does not stay a member of most forums on the net without a thick skin though so have your say :)

I take it you're satisfied though with the scanning and detection abilities. Please correct me if I'm wrong. This (CLAMAV for Windows) piques my curiosity though as currently I use, and some of my clients as well, MS Security Essentials. This is ok in a business environment with 10 or fewer computers but some of my clients, who can't afford at the moment anything else, need something free they can run on their workstations. A server/client based solution is not an option. No Exchange or web server in-house and the server is never used for web access or anything else on-line other than MS updates and our firewall is pretty good. It will be interesting to see how this pans out. I really need a free solution for workstations only in a corporate setting.

I say "our" because the government represents us all, or should anyways, that's a subject for a different debate. I'm sorry, we don't share in their profits, we should not be responsible for their mistakes. In my opinion, regulation is desired in cases such as this, but not to share blame, only as an additional protective measure. Yes, we may have failed at that (don't get me going on the bullshit that went on previously with the regulators and oil industry, nor the complete lack of review of the plan should a disaster happen, haven't seen any sea lions lately down here in the Gulf area) but the responsibility for safety rests squarely on those that are conducting the drilling and reaping the profits. I do believe the Rupert Murdochs of the world would jump all over it, and if I recall, have already made the argument. I just don't think we should be short sighted by only considering the entertainment industries.
