I wrote GUI foundation classes and async communcation routines in Director for the mac and pc. Samples of part of the functionality can be found here:
Downloadable mac projector is here: http://www.zavatone.com/director/UI%20Libra ries/
Features in demos: Automated asset creation Named Button/Control registry Messageable Buttons and Toggles Command keys assigned to items Command key display (hold down command or control key) Arrow navigable controls (press space or return to activate) Async animation manager
This GUI is completely abstractable from whatever back end needs it. Communication between front and back end is managed through my async messaging routines.
http://www.shoutcast.com. This is a great streaming music product. There are a large amount of varieties of stations and you can sort according to stream quality.
There are many windows and mac players for shoutcast streams and I've even created one in Director for Mac and Win. I'm sure there are Linux players as well.
For me, I love love love ProtonRadio (http://www.protonradio.com). http://lsac1-0-s03. shoutcast.net:8000/listen.pls
Try out shoutcast and find some stations you like. You'll never go back.
That would be so funny if it didn't care the hell out of me. I was in San Rafael, north of San Francisco over the Christmas shopping season and there was an iMac on a Crate & Barrel desk in a Crate & Barrel no less.
This must be a sign of either the coming of the Apocalypse or a sign that you live in Marin County.
The iCube? There is no such thing. Try the "Cube".
Actually, it is a great product - just marketed towards the wrong audience. Quiet as a mouse but many power users do feel the need for extra slots, even if they don't use them.
I have a Griffin Powermate on my desktop right now that is pulsing its blue light and therefore changing its appearance. I wonder if this constitutes prior work?
Just like the phone and powered flight. throughout history, several folks in various locals seem to come up with similar ideas at around the same time. Maybe the current state of science and society fosters the development of such ideas at different points in time?
So what have you created?
I claim the big Lego people form the '80's with the moveable arms (got free trains from Lego thanks to that one) and the 4 x 4 x 4 Rubix cube.
Too bad I didn't know a patent attorney in the early 80's when I was 15.
And to think my Dad gave the Lego trains away to my cousins. Grrr.
AGREED! If we consider ourselves to be as cool as we think we are, we should at least master basic spelling and grammar. Now IF the "post comment" part of/. could open up our email program, we could spell check our submissions and not look like complete morons who haven't made it past 3rd grade.
You either inflict your bad spelling and grammar on others and reinforce bad habits or promote adherance to standards and consistancy. Don't be like Microsoft. Spell correctly.
Happy to be doing my part to live up to the reputation us 3 percenters have.
It is a big responsibility but remember, we do it all for you, our biggest fans.
I'll try extra hard this weekend to live up to the lofty expectations you have of us.
Potential Candiates layage are currently. 1) Siliconed out twentyish Centerfold's Stripper with a Coke habit (redunant, I know) 2) Siliconed out hot software millionaire, young thirties. 3) Nuns.
I'm sorry to announce but the size 2, twentyish exgirlfriend is no longer responsive on that front. Will notify if status changes.
Please submit your preference and I will do my best to accommodate your recommendations.
Double opt in. Someone signs up and puts someone's email in. The server that gets this email sends a confirmation email to that email address saying, "you or someone isgned up for this ist just reply to this email to confirm your subscription". When a reply is sent to that email, then the sender is subscribed to that double opt in list.
But it is no fun if we can not kill these people who are profiting off of everyone else's misery. They truely deserve to be removed from the face of this planet. Where is the redeeming social quality in what they do? All our complaining is certainly not it.
Can we set up a paypal account to place a hit on the CEO of the biggest spam company and then work our way down?

(And no, I don't work for Griffin)
For the love of caffeine, I pray not.

No. They are not both dirty. Do some simple research before posting Jens.
You just supported my point. I did. We all do not know how to spell every word and it should be easier to spell check our submissions.
Allowing us to use our emailers (that have spell checkers) to make submissions would be a step in the right direction.
What I want to know about Peter Jackson is "what is it about him that makes his works so utterly astonishing?"
Truly uplifting and inspiring.

No. No we won't.

RIGHT! I play on my D4 450 cube against my buddy on his 1G P4 Dell laptop and he he generally beats me to 100 by 10 points.
Doing the math here shows that my G4 Cube is 2 times faster than his 1G Dell on a per megahertz basis. Or simply that I am a better player.
100/1000 = 90 / 450 * x
1/10 = 1/5 * x
x = 2
And I had the sound off too.
Stop using Disney logic. He started it. It is his own damn fault.
He is a man of free will right? Then is responsible for his own actions and for the results of his own actions. Even if they come back to haunt him.

But it's too bad no one thought to take PICTURES.
Wasn't anyone thinking?
If it were only that simple. He is disrupting society and providing a threat to my sanity.
Why haven't these people been killed yet?
Kill a few and publicize it in themedia and I'm sure the spam will slow down.
I have a 32 inch TV.
I have a 21 inch monitor.
I watch more DVDs on my TV.
Especially when I'm in a coffee shop. Then I lug my 32 inch tv in and plug it in to the s video out of my g3 500 so everyone can watch.
