Being of East Indian ethnicity, I do feel the general hate level against the asain population including Arabs/chinese/Indians.
Though this is a small percentage, it does hurt the people in the recieving end. The economy has made things worse when few people who lose jobs blame it on the H-1Bs.
There was a restructuring in my company and now the message boards are full of hate.
I guess the general hate level of the people has increased and also the economy is not helping.
Email from my CS Dept, I saw it after I read/., quite a coincidence
Microsoft software distribution is here!
Through Microsoft's MSDNAA program, we now have a site license for academic
use for *all* of Microsoft's systems software. This includes everything except MS Office. You can copy this software (e.g. Windows XP Professional) for free.
If you are a current student or faculty member you may check out a copy of this software to be copied for your use. The check out period is 2 days. You must have an ID and be a current student (if a student) to do this. We currently have made copies of Windows XP Professional, Visual Studio.Net, and SQL Server for you to check out. You can view the full list of what's available at:
http://www.msdnaa.net/products/descriptions.asp
You can expand the categories listed there to see what's available. Note that special requests of unusual items on this list should be directed to Paul Ford in CS support, and will require some time for him to make the copies.
When you check this out, you will be requested to sign a form explaining the terms of use. Some of the pieces of software require an enabling license number, which you can copy down for some of the products. Some other products (Visio, Win XP) require you to get an activation sticker (limit of 2 per person). You will also be asked to write down how many installations you plan on making with the software, which we need to summarize and report to Microsoft periodically.
See Jennifer in the main CS office (SEO 1120) to check out the CD's. There may be a rush at the beginning of this program, so please be patient if the copies you want are already checked out.
Dont we need "INTERNET EXPLORER". Lets face it, I use linux a lot and I swear none of these browsers render as good as IE.
Though IE is bad in the terms that it is forgiving. Most of the sites have bad html. The pages dont look anything close to what they were meant to look like in other browsers.
The success of any OS depends on the ability to have an Office application say *Word* and a browser *IE*.
You seem to have little sense in what you talk. India is a secular state. Infact the largest democracy. Its completely legitmate on india's part to safegaurd its teritorry. (doesnt US do that).
India atleast tries to keep its military in its teritorry, rather than many countries including US who have outside occupation.
Isnt it obvious that these islamic terrorists have nothing else other than blow up towers, planes, themselves.
The western world doesnt see what exactly is INDIA, infact their ignorance is much worse that the internet ignorance found in many rural parts of the country. Guess all they are deprieved is PORN
For no real reason, I hate *SUN* which is much bigger hate compared to MS. So I for one reason dont hate c#. BTW I have couple of domain names with C# name. kinda like that...;)
But this was supposed to be a great idea an year or two ago. The very thought of buying stuff online no need to visit the store blah blah blah. Its only when things dont work out that they say, well that was the fault blah blah blah..
IMHO, most of the people including VCs thought that were were great ideas at that time, when things dont work out they start finding faults.
I dont think so. This is a highly unlikely think. When 2 big guys fight the others really dont get a chance. Dont you see what happened to opera when M$ IE was fighting with NN.
Opera was small, it got smaller...
I may be in soup as I just visited playboy.com
Being tracked for reading an article about google (well it was from playboy)
It is like finding the square root of million,no one will ever know
Instead of using a win xp (of Kazaa for $199) I can download an illegal version of Linux (according to SCO) worth $699.
Wait a minute, this could be the a reason why linux could experience a push on the desktops soon.
I agree after watching divorce court for the last 10 years without missing an episode

God Bless America...
US and Pakistan are in different leagues. Pakistan is no way comparable to the US. The analogy doesnt stand correct

Enjoy!
If I cant use P2P then I would not need high speed cable too. I would rather get a 10$ dialup if I just use internet to check mails etc.
Wouldnt it be cool if someone patented patenting, so he could get a royalty when anyone tried to patents.
Maybe I check the uspto.gov regarding this

I hope the linux browser will improve in time.
Can you forward pointers towards what you say?

Does this help????
