Since you need it spelt out... my point is that Windows 3.1 was arguably a look-a-like of MacOS in many respects and Microsoft still kicked Apple's ass all over the shop.

Since it is obviously you who needs it spelt out: Windows won because Microsoft already ran a sorry excuse for an OS on 4 out of 5 computers sold. If you want a similar situation, you'll have to wait until something that far outsells the iPod suddenly becomes a reasonable MP3 player. So call me again when Gillette builds an MP3 player into their razors without raising the price too much.

Burrzzz. You don't have more Video RAM, you don't have any Video RAM - you have less RAM period. IOW if anything you have more swapping.

I think that it is a mistake for Firefox to mention IE for the same reason that the Oscars presenters should not have mentioned the word DVD all night: running down the competition makes you look cheap and scared.

Beg your pardon? How is the DVD competition to the movie makers? Or are the Oscars presented by the cinema owners all of a sudden?

Sure, the studios would like you to see a movie at the cinema a couple of times first, and then buy at least one DVD (plus the special edition).

    Says who? Not this.

After all, do you really think Apple would have gone with this Intel graphics chip if they didn't think it was going to do the job?

Because thanks to the insanely overpriced Intel junk the new Mini is already far more expensive than the old one.

Intel releases new chips all the time, and sells them directly to consumers.

Intel also changes sockets constantly. And why would somebody pay $664.64 (min at Froogle) now (or $200 in 2 years) to exchange the processor for one a little faster, in a computer that is hobbled by that stupid Intel on-board graphics? When people with the original would just resolder some resistors for free to overclock them - and they have a faster graphics chip.
