  1. You conveniently sidestepped the issue... on Your Medical Treatment History Is For Sale · · Score: 2, Insightful

How are uninsurable people suppose to obtain healthcare? And not just emergency or major surgery healthcare, but preventative healthcare?

If you don't want government involvement, then health insurance must be non-discriminatory, or else there will be no choice but to have public-funded programs to treat those who cannot afford private insurance. Or they can just get sick and die, I guess. Hey, as long as your ass is covered, right?

There is no hard and fast definition of 'liberal'. Liberal is whatever you make it to be.

I don't accept that the media is 'liberal', because most of it is owned by large conglomerates, and I guarantee that the board members and executives of those corporations are not 'liberal' by your definition.

Do you suppose the people hiring and firing anchors and reporters do not affect a bias on the reporting?

Face it: what you mean by 'liberal' is "not as conservative as I'd like", or more accurately "a simplistic label others who I identify with will use against those I don't."

However, the MVC architecture is triangular: the View sends updates to the Controller, the Controller updates the Model, and the View gets updated directly from the Model.

Which is wrong. The statement is contradicted by the very link embedded in it. In truth, the view directly updates the model and the view is modified indirectly by the model. The controller processes and responds to events, typically user actions, and may invoke changes on the model.

Robert Tilton is but one of the many prosperity gospel preachers, but I think the most unctious (though Creflo A. Dollar is up there).

For those not familiar with how this scam works, here's a snippet from Wikipedia:

In Success-N-Life, Tilton regularly taught that all of life's trials, especially poverty, were a result of sin.... Tilton's ministry revolved around the practice of making "vows", financial commitments to Tilton's ministry. Tilton's preferred vow, stressed frequently on his broadcasts, was $1,000. Occasionally, Tilton would claim to have received a "word" for someone to give a vow of $5,000 or even $10,000. When a person made a vow to Tilton, Tilton preached that God would recognize the vow and reward the donor with vast material riches.

    Then just die. Seriously.

The reason we have the impact we do on the environment is that there are just too damn many of us, and not many are volunteering to leave the party. Instead, they're inviting their kids over.

And I'm no one to talk, either. I've procreated a little more than my fair share, and my wife won't let me redress the balance. But still, global warming proves that we finally have reached the point where our numbers are detrimental to humanity's welfare. And eating less meat, driving less often, recycling more, etc. just postpones the inevitable reckoning: there needs to be fewer of us, not more.

That, or we colonize Mars. Preferably with penal colonies-- like Australia in the 1800's.
